What does this say about the Big XII, and UCF specifically, that a head coach is voluntarily taking what should be viewed as a demotion to be an OC in the ACC? Unless he’s been told “quit or be fired”, it’s hard to understand this career move.
All I’ve heard the last couple of years is how UCF is a power on the rise, excellent facilities, Bounce House, great recruiting classes, bla, bla, bla… I guess that they can always bring Scott Frost back to win them another “NC”. As an addendum, this is just further proof that the Big XII is a Truckstop Conference.
Yeah, it’s nuts. UCF fans complaining about how they are stuck with Gus for another year because they can’t afford a 12 million dollar buyout and now they are all rejoicing because he quit.
Chip Kelly did the same thing. Quit ucla as HC to be OC at OSU. Could be he didn’t want to be at the center of attention and dealing with all the NIL crap they a head coach has to deal with. Who knows, but who really cares.
Chip Kelly always hated recruiting. That’s why he had to leave Oregon before the show cause penalty for hiring a 3rd party to recruit for him. Add NIL to the mix, along with having made a lot of money in his career, and I can see wanting to do the only part of football he liked again.
