Just checked the leaderboard and Blake Tomlinson is in 9th place in his NCAA regional but just one stroke behind a 4-way tie for 4th.

Four more holes left to pick up a birdie…

What’s the format? As in how can he advance?

Not sure how an individual advances.  Team wise the top 5 teams in each region advance to the championship tournament played in Stoolwater, Oklahoma (actually a fine course, Karsten Crik).

He has to be the highest non-team school individual. It’s looking like he will come in 2nd in that classification as there is a kid from UTEP that is three shots ahead of him with one hole left.

Still very impressive showing for the freshman. Too bad, he had it down to one stroke coming off the 16th and double bogey’d the 17th hole to fall 3 back.

The golf team finished ranked 82nd this year, which doesn’t sound like much, but it’s actually one of the better years in school history. They return their top 5 players and have a really solid asian recruit coming in (one of the top juniors in Asia).

Good chance they will qualify for regionals next year (which is basically the equivalent of making the NCAA basketball tournament).

Yeah, faded there at the end, wound up 2nd among the individuals, tied for 9th overall, out of 75 golfers.  I guess #2 doesn’t make the cut for the championship tournament, but will look forward to a good showing for the Utes in 2019.

Pac-12 represented by Oregon and Stanford.   Will be tough to crack host school Okla State, also nearby Oklahoma (last year’s champs) and Arkansas all of whom qualified for the championship tournament.
