Excited for this hire. Hope he and Ganther can recruit, we need it.

ParticipantAgreed! I’d have to think that both would be huge for recruiting, though. If you’re a kid playing either DT or RB with the goal of playing at the next level, how great would it be to have a former Utah star and NFL dude as your position coach? Time will tell but it sure looks like 2 home run hires for me.

ParticipantA great player and a good man. At the end of the 94 Freedom Bowl, Utah fans were on the field celebrating and congratulating the players and all were eager to meet Luther. He was surrounded, in particular by younger fans, and at one point I looked over, could see he was worn out, and I heard him say something like “I’m exhausted, please let me go take a shower and I’ll come back out.” But others out of ear shot kept on rushing up to him and he graciously kept on greeting people, shaking hands, and signing autographs wihle keeping a warm smile on his face.

ParticipantYou gotta think his name carries a ton of weight in Polynesian homes. One of the best Polynesian football players ever, a good man, and he even founded a charity to benefit Polynesians.

ParticipantI may be wrong, but I recall hearing that Luther Ellis is of American Indian decent.
I don’t believe that this matters though.-

Participantwell… He might be, but he was included in the second group of men inducted into the polynesian football hall of fame. A simple google search shows that he is of Samoan decent. He may also be native american, I have no clue, but he is most definitely polynesian.
