Utah Soccer Returns to the Pitch

SALT LAKE CITY – Under the direction of second-year head coach Hideki Nakada, the Utah women’s soccer program returned to the pitch on Wednesday night as they hosted Idaho State in an exhibition contest.

The Bengals and Utes played a spirited match that consisted of three 30 minute periods. At the end of regulation, Idaho State and Utah had a penalty shootout to continue honing their skills for the upcoming regular season.The Bengals fought hard all 90 minutes of play before falling 3-0 in regulation, but winning the penalty shootout 5-4.

Utah opens the 2022 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 18, when they travel to Portland, Ore., to face the Pilots of the University of Portland. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. MT from Merlo Field.
