How about taking a break from recruiting, and talk about the next game. Those of you closer to the coaches and players; how does this game breakdown? The blue side of my family are beginning feel confident (again).

Well, this the first year I am more worried about our Defense than our offense; just cause we lost just about everyone..lack of experience is my biggest concern for this game

Agree.  We don’t know much of anything. We don’t even know who our starting QB is.

I’m worried about the secondary but the D line is very experienced. Tufua and Tupai both have a lot of quality playing time under their belts and the DT’s all have a ton of experience. Yes, the Utes lost a lot of starters, but experience in the front 6 is there.

Doesn’t matter the game is not going to be played. Covid is surging again, 40 Clemson players have tested positive which might have been Dabo’s plan along. Get his team immune before the season starts. Arizona has stopped bringing their players back. The county is crapping in its own pants right now. Coronavirus has been politicized to the point where it can’t be fought the way it should be. GOP mayors and Govs along with Trump are vilifying any Democratic who wants to shutdown their city or state.

In the immortal words of Richard Dreyfus in Jaws. “The GOP is gonna ignore this particular problem until it swims up and bites you in the ass”.

The country needs sports back in a bad way but the best I see happening is a conference only schedule.

I didn’t mean to go politics on you but the country is a mess right now with C19 and BLM and a country that hasn’t been this divided in 70 years.

You’ve got baseball and basketball players not going to their respective bubbles to play. Golfer and caddies are testing positive and dropping out. Teams are being limited to only groups of 10 being allowed to practice.

They will give teams and COVID testing 3 extra weeks and that will eliminate the non con schedule.

      Hypothetically….Utah wins easy.
Home game, more talent, better coaching.

They vilified themselves. Telling everyone to stay home unless you want to attack people, burn buildings, loot or break something is asinine. They only want to stop it once it comes to their neighborhood as evidenced by the Seattle and St. Louis mayors behavior.

I’m not an insider but based on starting experience on D we are at a big disadvantage .  The team needs reps which they aren’t getting.  On paper the O should be even better than last year.  Home field advantage may not exist if the stands are mostly empty.  The coaching situation hasn’t helped either.  Going to be a close game.  I give the Y the edge. But then again I am 0-10 on the last 10 Superbowls…

Utah Dline is very experienced. They will eliminate a lot of mistakes on the backend of the D.

Utah will rotate 6-8 quality DL during the game.

Lloyd is gonna make the jump to one of the premier LBs in the Pac12.

Clark Phillips is college ready and will start somewhere in the secondary.

Utah has a ton of young talent at the corner position. There will be growing pains early but the front 7 will help them.

The best pass defense is a good pass rush.

The key will be the FS position. I think you’ll see Vonte Davis there until Herbert is healthy.

BYU has issues themselves going beyond replacing players from last year. The overall talent gap is great enough to overcome position by position matches where BYU as the advantage of experience. Could any BYU player start at Utah? I think the Utah team can come together faster then BYU even with the freshmen matched up with experienced BYU players.

Now that Scalley is retained, I’m glad the game is not a road game down in the cesspooll. I would expect the fans down there to fail to live up to their code of conduct.

Meh.  The zoobs are ALWAYS confident they’ll win the next game against Utah.  And especially during the preseason.  The preseason is THEIR time of year!  It’s pretty much the only time they’re still “undefeated”, and “this year is the year” they all expect…

      1.  …they’ll beat Utah.

      2.  …they’ll finish the season ranked.

      3.  …they’ll earn a NY6/CFP bowl bid.

      4.  …a new form of college football realignment, wherein they’ll be positioned favorably, and/or Utah will get booted out of the Pac-12 and/or our “power” league status.

It’s the same thing every year.  Same story, different chapter.

They are pretty demoralized. Last year’s game is a good example. They were not out of that game going into the lightning delay. Moss and more stupid penalties ended it. Most of the fans even left during the delay. It is hilarious.
