BlockedThe Utah men’s basketball team hits the road this week for a pair of very important games, the first of five that have Pac-12 and NCAA Tournament implications, starting with Arizona this Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. (MT).
Roxy Bernstein will guide fans through the action alongside NBA legend Bill Walton as the Runnin’ Utes look to pull off the in-season sweep of the Wildcats for the first time since the 1977-78 season – when both teams were members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

BlockedUtah Utes
If you’ve been thinking to yourself “I’ll bet the next team to debut at Bubble Watch will be one that’s lost home games to Stanford and Sam Houston State,” congratulations! (The Bearkats are tough, by the way, keep an eye on Jason Hooten’s team.) Utah has hit some rough patches on the way to 17-9, but Craig Smith’s group refuses to allow opponents to make shots. Meanwhile 7-footer Branden Carlson is wearing out the Pac-12 by drawing five fouls per 40 minutes then shooting free throws like he plays for Villanova (85% in conference play). With a borderline top-50 NET ranking and, of course, that 15-point win at home over Arizona back in December, the Utes have joined the bubble fun. (updated Feb. 14) -

ParticipantIt all depends on how hot we get from 3….WAZZU went into there & beat ‘em, so there’s reason to hope….But we can’t be cold from deep.

ParticipantMy keys to tonight’s game:
* Out rebound them, the more separation the better
* Don’t give up offensive boards. 1 trip down the court makes it a lot harder to win vs 2,3,4
* Play with energy. Energy on both ends for a complete 40 minutes keeps you in the gameIf you can pull off all 3, Utes win by 5

ParticipantWe keep it close or win if we keep them off the glass and don’t allow second and third chance points. It has been the key to success for this team all season. Teams like UCLA and Oregon hurt us because they are long and athletic and very agressive on the glass.
I don’t think we will win but you never know.
