I like these, hopefully others do too. I usually pick very well with Utah, Oregon State, Oregon, Stanford, WSU, ASU, USC, UCLA, Cal; very terribly with Washington, Colorado, Arizona. So, here goes.
Week 0/1 – I will combine the first two weeks because I can.
Oregon State vs Colorado State: This will be the battle of the running game. I’m torn on who to pick. CSU scored a lot last year but gave up a lot of points. OSU has a great RB, good WR’s and a new JC QB. I think Gary “Utah’s” this game…he runs, runs, runs and tries to eat up the clock and shorten the game. Also, Gary usually has a good season three years in. If he is to follow suit, he has to win this game. 34-31 Oregon State.
#14 Stanford vs Rice: Ummm…Stanford wins. They run like crazy, play defense like crazy and win big. 38-3.
North Dakota at Utah: North Dakota has a weakened secondary, their offense will run right into the heart of our defense, and Tyler Huntley will run his way to an impressive game. Huntley with over 300 total yards, Carrington with 2 TD’s and a defensive TD and a ST TD. 56-3 Utah.
New Mexico St at ASU – Again, another snoozer. Manny Wilkins looks great, ASU rolls. 58-24.
#8 Washington at Rutgers – Chris Peterson comes back to earth…nah, I’m done rooting against the guy. Yeah, they have questions in their WR core, secondary and OL, but still. Washington rolls Rutgers. 42-18.
Colorado State at Colorado – This game will be a shootout. CSU is 0-1 and they are planning a run at a BCS bowl. They HAVE to win this game as they have Alabama two weeks later. Unfortunately, Colorado is looking to make a statement as well. 36-30 Colorado in OT.
Cal at North Carolina – Sorry Cal, you suck. North Carolina: a lot of points. Cal: a lot less points.
Portland State at Oregon State – fresh off PSU’s upset of the s**ts down there…j/k. Oregon State runs all over these guys. 45-6 OSU.
Western Michigan at #4 USC – Sorry Western Michigan. Hope you come out alive. USC: 68-14.
SUU at Oregon: another terrible game. 65-24 Oregon.
Montana State at #24 WSU: WSU actually wins one of these. 45-28.
Northern Arizona at Arizona: Arizona runs, runs, runs…and struggles like they do. 35-24 Arizona
Texas A&M vs UCLA: Rosen comes out slinging, UCLA looks to make a statement. 34-28…UCLA.
After week 1:
North:
Oregon State 2-0 (0-0)
#8 Washington 1-0 (0-0)
#14 Stanford 1-0 (0-0)
#24 WSU 1-0 (0-0)
Oregon 1-0 (0-0)
Cal 0-1 (0-0)South:
#4 USC 1-0 (0-0)
Utah 1-0 (0-0)
ASU 1-0 (0-0)
Colorado 1-0 (0-0)
Arizona 1-0 (0-0)
UCLA 1-0 (0-0)Rankings:
Arizona: NR-NR
ASU: NR-NR
Colorado: NR-NR
Utah: NR-NR
USC: #4-#3
UCLA: NR-#25
Stanford: #14-#13
Cal: NR-NR
Washington: #8-#8
Washington State:#24-#23
Oregon: NR-NR
Oregon State: NR-NR -

Man what a suck fest the first of the season is.

Wow, even in a game that Utah should win, I don’t see any way UND gives up 56 points and only gets 3. Not going to claim that we will win, or that it will even come down to the wire. But I don’t see UND losing by 53 either.

I think ND gets a TD in the first half, probably off of a dropped snap or some other miscue type of fumble giving them good field position. New starting QB, new system, and first game of the season. There will be a few mistakes by Utah’s offense. I’ll go 38 -13 Utah.

Yeah, you’re probably right. I always predict big wins over FCS teams and we usually win 35-14-ish. My W/L isn’t bad. My points are terrible.

IDK what in the hell is wrong with my fellow Utes, every year they set grand expectations. Then, every year Utah plays smaller teams closer than we would like and everyone bitches due to earlier stated expectations. Then at the end of the year, we finish with a good or great record and everyone complains that it could’ve been better, until the next year and look back and realize just how good it was.
Realistic prediction: Utah 28, UND 18. This is based on ND’s solid fundamentals, good running attack combined with Utah’s new offense, first game gitters, and rebuilding defense.
2nd prediction: Utah fans will be bitching and wanting Taylor fired and Huntley benched. It’s what we do! Well that and dump bear on Max Hall. We’re complex.

There is zero chance we score 56 points on 300 all-purpose yards from the QB. The only way that would work is for us to pick up ~350-400 yards on the ground.
Last year SUU crossed the 50 yard line 3 times. One was a fumble, another got them into FG range (false start forced them to punt), third was an interception.
I think UND will score somewhere in the 9-14 point range. Who knows what our new Offense can do. If we really mess up and the ball bounces the wrong way, then we score 14-27 points. If everything clicks, we could score 70 points…However, Whitt will absolutely call off the dogs before that happens – probably somewhere in the mid-30s. He is not a fan of running up the score, unless the bastards deserve it (see Oregon 2015, any time we play byu, etc).

I was at the 2015 Oregon game. Sat on the 50 yard line, second or third row, with all of the Ducks season ticket holders.
At one point in the third quarter, someone leaned over to us and said “Stop! Make them stop!”
heh

We rarely curb stomp FCS opponents. I’m going with 31-10 but hope our offense is capable of more than that.
