What are the two most important positions on offense? QB and OL? I like TT, but regrettebly, we don’t have a strong run game to hide our inexperience at QB under…or at least we don’t employ the run game to help our young QB out. It’s like TT believes TH will break out and take over in the pass game. “My job is to score as many points as possible.”

On a side note: Our defense looks tired most of the game. Very little explosion, very little resetting of the line of scrimmage. Perhaps the defense has lost it’s run defense prowess because it plays pass defense 90% of practice?

I think Utah has benefited from great running backs and good Olines the past few seasons. Good rush blocking lines I should say. There is nothing in the backfield they are confident in handing off to Moss 30 times a game.

Taylor’s refusal or inability to utilize Moss effectively is the most damning part of having him as an OC. For all of our previous OC’s faults, from A-Rod to Chow, they at least found a way to take advantage of our star RB while running a struggling offense.

I don’t believe Moss can. He has shown the opposite in his career if you think about it. He has been injured a lot and I don’t think he can carry a team like Booker or J Williams. Even Joe wore down.

Booker wore down as well same with John White the more I think about it.

The problem with using the running game is that without a quality line it becomes inconsistent. Moss’ runs went for -1, 4, 2, 5, 7, 14, 5, 19, 4. And after one of those long runs he left the game with an injury and didn’t return for the rest of the drive which stalled at the 2 or 3. Our line get stuffed at the goal line continually, which means we have to try other ways to get in the end zone, hence the poor performance in the red zone. Add to this that most of the run plays are options, so Tyler has the choice of who runs and it seems to me he’s much more comfortable running himself that handing it off. I’ve seen some very strange decisions on those options.

The defense is tired because the offense doesn’t have very many long drives.

So they are tired at the start of every game and every half when they give up td’s each time? No, they aren’t tired, they are just bad, real bad. Lotuleilei ends up 5 yards the wrong direction every play, the ends don’t get containment on the edges and the lb’s are slow. This is a really really bad defense.

Or playing two physical teams in Stanford and USC and then playing two teams with speed in ASU and Oregon took a toll on the players…

So they are weak too. Nice.

It’s a young inexperienced team. Mistakes will happen. But please find out how many rushing yards have come against the middle of Utah’s D vs the edge?

I think the reality is depth wise Utah isn’t as deep as we thought. Anae and Fitts are wore out not even close to 100%.

I see what you’re saying. Tyler went down in 1st drive of second quarter vs AZ. Then played ASU hurt and then Oregon. The point being, he hasn’t played much while at full capacity against the P12.
