3rd Place in Region, behind Oklahoma (host) and South Carolina, tied with Auburn.   Three 69’s were carded to lead the team.

Currently they are in 4th at their regional and top 5 advance to nationals. Have a 10 shot lead over 6th place with ~27 holes left to play.

Translation:

Last year Utah golf made the ncaa basketball tournament for the first time in program history as a 13 seed. They were overwhelmed by the moment and lost by double digits in the first round.

This year they are back after another solid season and won the first round as an 11 seed. Despite going up against a 3 seed, the spread for their Round of 32 matchup is only Utah +1.5, and there is a lot of optimism that they have a realistic shot of advancing to the sweet 16. They need to play well and are going against a talented squad, but the team has some good mojo surrounding them.

Yeah, this “Sweet-16” talk jinxed them.   But they are still in 5th place; the Top-5 do advance.   Auburn and Ole Miss got really hot today as the Oklahoma wind kicked in.   Tomorrow, near-record high temps in the 90s are expected to go along with the wind.  With luck it will rain tonight and keep the afternoon temps in the low 90s.
