Well, let’s hope this thread isn’t too sad. This team has surprised us in many ways this year, both good and bad. Maybe we’ll catch fire today and make it a game.

Oregon win would be so huge. I just don’t think Utah has the offensive firepower to keep up. It has to happen on the defensive side of things. Oregon missing a ton of shots would be nice.  Hope Taylor shows up for the whole game this time.

Start with a Poetl foul then a 10 second violation. Awesome.

Poetl gets 2nd foul, Coach K gets a technical. Poetl has to sit with about 12 minutes to go in the half.

        Trouble lurking.

Not sure why Taylor is going up against the trees, then that leads to an and-1 on the other size after he got swatted.

Wright isn’t a better option so sad.

It wouldn’t be a Utah basketball game without a Chapman travel.

Highlight of the game so far, Oregon cheerleaders.

That is a better score than I was thinking it would be. If Taylor would somehow get rid of the yips Utah would be in this game.

Beginning of the 2nd half doesn’t look good. Down 13 now. We just don’t seem to match up with these guys, or know what the hell to do to defend them.

Wow how about the dunk by Tucker? Then Reyes passes it to the player defending him. Then we give up about five rebounds on one serious and end with an and-1 against us. Not sure how much more of this I can stomach.

Poeltl really can’t find a rhythm. Taylor is just pathetic driving me nuts.

I listened to the game on my iPhone while installing the inrake manifold on my wife’s SLK 280. Sounded like Utah played another sloppy game. The repair on the car worked. Hate the Mercedes.

@westslopecutthroat what year is the SLK? Sounds like out of warranty stuff?

It’s a 2007 SLK 280, so yes way out of warranty.

The intake manifolds are complicated as they have vacuum actuated tumbler flaps that alter the air flow into a long passage at low rpm and a short passage at high rpm to improve performance at both ends of the rpm range. Problem is that the parts are all plastic and as they age in the face of repeated heat cycles, the plastic becomes brittle. If there’s any resistance from buildup the result of EGR gases running through it, the actuator is the weak spot and breaks every time. Take it to the dealer and they’ll replace it with a new manifold for $1,200. The aftermarket has developed laser cut aluminum billet actuators that sell for around $75 to $100. You have to pull the manifold and install that. Alternatively, you can buy a new OEM manifold for as little as $500 on eBay. I’m a pretty good wrench and with the how to videos on the Internet, can do most anything myself. Still it was a bitch to get the gaskets positioned properly. Finally used fishing line to tie them in place to the manifold. Then you cut and pull the line and install the bolts one at a time. That worked quite well and the car is now running great and no longer throwing codes.

Here’s an article on the problem:

      http://www.eeuroparts.com/blog/1692/mercedes-benz-intake-manifold-woes/

I like to work on my cars, boats and trucks. I like to do projects that improve them, but I don’t like repairs for shoddily made product like the Mercedes. It’s my wife’s car and not her primary driver. She now prefers the Toyota 4Runner I bought her.

My next project is to convert my 1999 Suburban K2500 diesel (GMT 400 truck style) to the next era GMT 800 Truck brakes which are huge dual piston calipers and pads. I love my ’99 diesel, but the brakes from that era were substandard, especially on the heavy Suburban. So life of late has this wealthy guy cruising pick a part boneyards looking for 2000 to 2007 Silverado or Sierra 2500s to harvest the steering knuckles or spindles. Also looking for rear axles assemblies of that same era as they also had dual piston disc brakes.

Reason I ask is I have a GLK350 which is still under warranty. Just wondering about the maintenance on the thing when it is out of warranty, or if I should move to something else.

You are better off leasing cars like a Mercedes. They are complicated cars and things will go wrong as they age. Repairing them at the stealership gets profusely expensive. My doing the repairs myself is a gesture of defiance, proving that I can do it. Otherwise, my time is better spent doing other things. We are discussing selling the car.

I am not much of a car guy. To me they are tools to do a job. I have a diesel Suburban to tow my boats and I have a Honda Accord to commute in. The Suburban is easy and cheap to work on; the Honda I never have any problems and only deal with normal wear items. Wife had to have her convertible sports car, thus the SLK 280. It was good right up to 100K miles, then we started having problems. We appear to be through those problems for the time being.

I watched the Encore replay of the game last night, shutting it off with about 10 minutes left. No one could guard Brooks, especially Taylor. Oregon had answers for Poetl and Kuzma, getting them into foul trouble. You take out Poetl and Kuzma and you cut out the heart of this team.
