I agree about Arizona, but I think these kids are desperately needed as well. We need some “long-term” kids to develop in the program as well. This kid has an amazing ceiling and could be fantastic in a year or two. We need the Poeltl’s and Delon’s, but we need the Loveridge’s, Taylor’s, and Kuzma’s as well (and I think this kid is much closer to Kuzma than Loveridge, talent wise).
Agree with Utah. Between the usual-5*-misses and the 2*/no* players, we need more players like this. Athletically, this kid seems to have it (bouncy, handle, jumper). If he has the learning aptitude and the right attitude, he could be a very nice player.
Tier 1 programs in P12 (i.e. UA, UCLA, UO) will get their share of top recruits. Now, programs like Stanford and USC are starting to catch-up as far as recruiting goes. The next three years will be very interesting.
Because freshmen rarely produce? Not like this is a top ten freshmen or something like that. I dunno, I rarely expect a freshmen to produce much if anything at all. Game is faster, everyone is bigger, offenses are more complex, etc….
So what’s your point? My point is that I don’t ever count on freshmen to contribute at all. If they do, fantastic. If they don’t, so what. We should never be in a position to need them to contribute. But here we are.
