Participant4* TE who Utah has recruited hard. He’s a mission kid.
BREAKING: Four-Star TE Walker Lyons has Decommitted from Stanford and will sign in February.
The 6’4 230 TE from Folsom, CA had been committed to the Cardinal since July.
Holds a total of 34 offers including Alabama, USC, Utah, and others. https://t.co/7G2kZhumb0 pic.twitter.com/pxm4M9Sgzn

KeymasterI know a place where tight ends thrive.

ParticipantHeard yesterday that this is between us and SC with a slight lean to us.

ParticipantOnlyu how well do our players do with NIL? Is it really a huge detrimental factor as everyone makes it seem??

ParticipantCam is in the top 100 for current players so it’s not bad once they’re here. The challenge has been to be able to pay for the high school/portal kids.
It’s a challenging dilemma in my view. Paying a hs kid who MAY be a star, might get injured, might be a bust or who may lose the job in year 1 and transfer out. I’d hate to be the guy who gave someone a half mil to come and then see him leave because he wasn’t a first year starter!
We have been ultra cautious trying to figure out the rules (are they even enforced?) so a bit behind from that standpoint. We are seeing plenty of movement to try and get more (Urban on here is one) so I expect each day that passes we are in a better spot BUT we will never have SC, Bama or A&M money. That is until one of you steps up and creates the next Amazon or Nike!!!
We’re not in a terrible position overall though.

ParticipantBased on losing Jamal Anderson’s boy to Clemson and $C buying Addison and others due to NIL, I’d say it’s a problem.

ParticipantIt depends on what you’re setting as the goal. If the goal is to compete with USC and Clemson and Ohio St in the NIL world, then yeah, Utah is going to get smoked. But maybe that’s not a realistic goal

ParticipantAren’t we rumored to be getting a TE from BYU also? Maybe the cupboards won’t be completely bare after all. Still probably need a QB from the portal.

Onlyu
ParticipantYou have Jacobsen coming in and Munir and Morris already here. Plus I’d be shocked if Holker wasn’t a Ute. Cupboard far from being bare. Lyons is a mission kid anyway so there will be plenty of TE’s wanting to come to Utah based on how we use them. TE is the least of our worries.

ParticipantIs Yassman for sure leaving?
-
Onlyu
ParticipantYeah. He came over to get his degree plain and simple. He’s had a little more success than even he expected but I think the allure to go home wins out on this one. 2/10 he stays so I guess there is a chance but I thinks he’s gone.

ParticipantRumor is Yassmin has had some really hard bouts of home sickness and really wants to be back with family. Can’t blame a kid for that. He’s a long way from home.

ParticipantThat’s a shame. He could be an NFL talent with one more year. Throwing away millions to go back home to Australia? Seems like a bad deal to me…
