Huntley made the right read a lot in that game, including on one of his touchdowns where either he or Zach had to blow through a defender’s tackle.

Watch it again.

That play or this game? Because on that play the DE crashed down to get moss and letbup at the last second.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
I am saying watch the game again just the offensive stuff. It is pretty easy to scan through the possessions. This was Utah football under Whitt to a T. Strong defense set the tone against a completely unprepared depleted offense.

Reminders for me from this game. I don’t understand how Huntley was named the MVP on this one. IMO it was Lowell Lotulelei. The offense kind of sputtered against an ok defense. So many drops and Moss wasn’t used effectively after it looked like he was going to have a 300 yard three touchdown day. Instead we have a lot of evidence of Huntley taking bad hits and making bad reads.
West Virginia was severely handicapped offensively from injuries. Maybe the defense doesn’t look that good with them being healthy you could argue.
Offensively I kind of see people’s disappointment on Harding. But I also understand the sort of hold your breath and pump you brakes on TT’s offense. Huntley made a lot of good throws and there were loads of drops. Jake Jackson is not a very good TE from this game film. Singleton will not be missed he did make a good post catch. WR didn’t help Huntley out in this game at all. Huntley took a lot of unblocked quick hits not making the OL look good.

I’m glad 247 has decided to take a hard stance on Harding.
I’ll quote Dan Sorensen here:
Anyone that thinks Harding is a terrible O line coach has no idea what they’re talking about.

I haven’t seen anyone on here call him a terrible O line coach. I think some (myself included) would rank him somewhere around average/pretty good. Others seem to think Harding is nothing short of outstanding. They justify this opinion with the offseason draft picks and offseason interviews. I form the basis of my opinion on how our O Line plays as a collective unit in our 13 games.

EagleMountainUteParticipant
Usual suspects on this site have called him a terrible Oline coach. I never have, I can just see why people left disappointed in his performance for 2017. Huntley took far too many hits sometimes unblocked. Watch that particular game again is all I am saying.

I’m with the preacher. Haven’t seen anyone call Harding terrible, at least not that I recall, but there are a bunch who think he is the Nick Saban of OL coaches. In reality, he seems like ‘just’ a good OL coach. Not great, not bad, just good.

Wasn’t Blackmon named the player of that game?
-
UtahParticipant
Was that the game the WR threw him to the ground to make a catch and then a few plays later Blackmon makes an amazing INT? He is so good.

I’ve watched a lot of games from last year and Huntley makes throws that haven’t been made since Smith. He is VASTLY underrated as a QB. I don’t want to drink too deeply from the koolaid, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he averages 275 yards a game in the air. Especially with Covey and Simpkins and Nacua and Thompson and Mariner.

He’s got so much potential. I just hope Taylor is the guy to bring it out of him. If so, we’re gonna be sooo good this year and next.

Huntley wasn’t mvp. Blackmon was.

The broadcast chose Huntley I guess what I meant.

Am I missing something? I rewatched that game and came away with a couple of thoughts.
Our offense played marginally at best.
OL can’t stand the blitz. Huntley was sacked 5-6 times at least.
Huntley overthrew the receivers for the first quarter.
Huntley seemed to be indecisive about keeping/handing off the ball to Moss. One resulted in a t/o.
Our receivers couldn’t catch the second half. Carrington was the one consistent bright spot.
Moss is a semi truck.
This game would have been close, if not a loss, if WV had their healthy players in.
I really hope this is not a preview of what to expect for 2018 because we’ll be 7-5 team, if we’re lucky. Sorry for being a Debbie Downer. Bing on the thumbs down. And please tell me if I am missing something.

Bowl games for teams with records below 9 wins should be two weeks before Christmas. All 9+ after Christmas.
