Should come down to money, shouldn’t it? Hard to believe that Zona, with all of their financial issues, has much to throw around. I’m sure that Zona will focus on the college life aspects of going to the school, where, in my opinion, they have an advantage over Utah.
So why cancel USC/UCLA? Both of those schools offer a better college environment than Zona, have more NIL money, and they play in the B1G. Utah makes a bit of sense since we offer basically guaranteed playing time and we have his position coach from WSU.
USC has more NIL money but UCLA is flat broke and has to pay Cal $30M over the next three years due to their departure to the B1G. That being said, my comment was specifically focused on the differences between Utah and Arizona, seeing as both USC and UCLA are now out of the picture. If both LA schools were still in the picture, then I’d give the advantage to USC, because it can both outspend Utah and has the “bright lights, big city” vibe.
I would say that SLC is a much “bigger” and nicer city than Tucson. As for the college/party life, I cant comment on that. I think Utah is in a much better position to bounce back and have a good 2025 season than UofA. I have my fingers crossed.
