84 points against Stanford is a legitimate top offense. I went to the game Thursday and they scored 101. Some awfully good players and the point guards keep getting better and better at opening the offense up. Such a fun team to watch.

Our program’s proudest moment since taking eventual champion Maryland to OT before losing in the Elite Eight.  And lots more hoops to play beginning next week in Vegas.

And not a Senior on the team. If no key players Xfer they should be very good again next season!

But, this season still had a lot of ball to play…GO UTES!!

In my opinion, the key part of the game was the play of Peyton McFarland for most of the second quarter, while Pili and Rees were on the bench with foul trouble. She played great defense against Stanford’s tall interior players, and allowed our shooters on offense to keep rolling. It was a great team effort.

It came before 9,611 fans, the biggest home crowd that Utah’s women team have had since 1993.

The win was of course great, but the fact that it happened in front of almost 10K fans is the biggest development for this program. They’ve been playing high quality, entertaining basketball for the last two years and while the attendance has improved a bit, it still trails so many of the top programs. That’s a huge issue for recruiting, as many of the top players think it would be fun to play in front to packed crowds every night. I think if this win translates to a sustained uptick in attendance, that will be even more important than winning a share of the conference title over the long-term.
