Apples v. oranges. The difference is the latest ill-conceived and unnecessary trump EO addresses refugees from war-ravaged countries, some that we invaded and currently occupy. The governing laws and vetting processes are completely different.

Both the Clinton and Obama administrations enforced immigration laws aggressively. Obama, in particular deported more illegal immigrants than any previous administration. Obama and Clinton both emphasized the role of employers in perpetuating the problem. The conservatives will not even talk about it for fear of offending the corporatocracy.

Mr. Trump and the teaparty conveniently fail to ever mention that second part.

Until the last 2+ years of the Obama administration where they told the Feds NOT to enforce immigration laws.

We have issues with both border security and immigration policy. Both are a hot mess. Having said that I’m not sure that Trump’s slash and burn philosophy is the best solution, nor was the Obama/Clinton policy of ignoring the problem.

It seems like we’ve lost all capacity for rational thought and discussion in politics. Instead the win at all costs mindset prevails.
