ParticipantJust read this on Bruinzone. Thought it was pretty funny, even though I don’t usually post rivalry/opponent stuff.

“Ive had rivalries with Utah from following other sports and they play hard, but I respect them.
BYU on the other hand…….all I can say is I’d rather spend a week on a cruise ship with nothing but trojans then 2 hours in a movie theater with BYU cougars.” -

ParticipantJeez I thought Utefans had crappy format for an online fan site.
Pretty funny.-

KeymasterGood mother of god that’s the worst looking fanboard I’ve ever seen. Makes UFN look like apple.com.

ParticipantThey seem to be implying that Utah is a dirty team because of all the injuries, although we seemed to have as many. But the real truth is that most of those injuries were not the result of contact.

ParticipantThe turf at res should be charged with several personal fouls.

ParticipantI’ve never thought of us as a dirty team. I really wish we would clean up the targeting penalties so that we don’t get the reputation of a dirty team, however. Seems that we’re racking them up this year.

ParticipantI don’t think anyone considers targeting a dirty thing anymore. Even Mikey P didn’t think the second one for UCLA was flagrant.

ParticipantWe’ve never had a targeting call before this year.
Anyone who thinks/calls us dirty instantly outs themselves as ignorant.

ParticipantI thought one announcer (Gus Johnson?) had a good idea. If a defensive player lowers his strike zone and attempts to wrap up (like actually make a tackle as opposed to a collision), then any incidental helmet contact should not be considered targeting. Like the old spearing rule, I think that one could actually be enforced equitably, address the problem and allow players to actually play.

ParticipantEveryone is racking them up this year. I am just sick when they call it one a hard, text-book hit like Chase’s beauty on Friday night. Thank God they review them.

ParticipantI think that a ref should not throw a flag unless he is certain that there is a penalty. I am tired of refs picking up flags that shouldn’t have been thrown to begin with. Be sure of the call and throw the flag after that occurs. How hard is that?

KeymasterI thought flags were thrown when the see a penalty. So then what happens when they pick it up? Did they unsee the penalty?
