I think it makes a lot of sense. Very few Kickers miss the PAT, so this new rule would speed things up.
Another idea — one that was not mentioned in your article — would be to move the LOS for the PAT back 10-yds for each additional OT, while leaving the 2-pt conversion at the 3-yd line. Teams could then weigh their options, and choose whichever they feel their best opportunity lies.
you have to get to overtime for it to matter and Whitt has avoided it every time it’s a possibility. granted, it is a small sample size since the last two i remember were in 2017:
1) going for two at the coliseum
2) calling TO’s with UW deep in their own territory. Petersen was more than happy to get it in field goal range if Whitt was going to help him with the clock.
