ParticipantHypothetical time. This defense is legit and healthy with depth. The offense is balling out, we got audibles from Huntley, under center QBs sneaks, deceptive tempos everything I have always wanted in an offense! 11-2 seems possible…probable and a great achievement.
Worst case I think 9-3? Losing to Oregon or ASU?

ParticipantYeah, if we are 11-2 we won the PAC-12 so we are in the playoffs or Rose Bowl. There is no other option.

ParticipantI agree. With two losses, Utah has already basically been eliminated from playoff consideration. Notice that I said consideration, not contention. They are different. Anyway, that would mean that Utah would get a Rose Bowl berth if they win the Pac-12 Championship. Also, they might get an NY6 bowl berth if they were to lose the said Championship Game and they were ranked highly enough.

ParticipantRose Bowl is as high as I’m setting hopes/expectations this season. The bottom is that Santa Clara bowl but I’d much rather prefer the Holiday Bowl if not the Rose.

ParticipantI wouldn’t mind the Alamo Bowl either.

ParticipantUtah’s not going to lose to either ASU nor Oregon. They’re going 10-2 (7-2). Mark. It. Down. That would get them a Championship Game berth. 11-2 and a Pac-12 Championship obviously gets them the Rose Bowl. 10-3 would likely land them in either the Alamo Bowl or the Holiday Bowl, with an outside chance at an at-large berth to an NY6 Bowl if they finish ranked highly enough.

ParticipantUtah lost to the two best teams on their schedule. That doesn’t seem playoff worthy to me.

ParticipantNope. A 2-loss team has never been seriously considered for the playoff and we won’t be the first. Even as a 1-loss conference champ our OOC schedule wouldn’t have made us a lock this year, would have depended on what happened elsewhere.
Still, the Rose Bowl would be a pretty great consolation prize! But lots of work to do before we start booking tickets…

ParticipantSo you’re saying there’s a chance? <starts frantically looking for Rose Bowl tickets>

ParticipantAnd since we’re fantasizing… how about a Rose Bowl against tOSU? Whitt VS Meyer would be epic! Which team would you want to play?

ParticipantIt needs to happen. I was worried Urban was going to get fired this season. Whitt only a has a few years left. I hear him say years ago that he doesn’t really want to be coaching in his sixties.

ParticipantIf it did happen, I’d want it to happen this year. tOSU OL has significant issues. Perfect fit for our defense.
