I was unhappy about the play of our D yesterday, but I am optimistic about what I saw from Isaac Wilson. What I liked most was how he checked down and found the open receiver. Over and over again, you could see him check down. He did not just throw to the first guy. That takes some maturity. He also did not have happy feet and leave the pocket too early.
Isaac WIlson is not Cam Rising (at least yet). But, I was impressed with the 18-year-old in his first start. I think the kid has great promise and may end up being a three-year starter for the Utes.

A couple of the throws he made were big boy throws too. Throws that a mediocre QB couldn’t make very often.

Yeah that throw he had to Money Parks on the left sideline was a dime.

I had a front-row seat to that throw and it was one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. It’s essentially undefendable. Only a very talented QB can make throws like that and shows the promise Wilson has.

According to the game chat, this is BS.
It’s now well established that Wilson, aka Frodo from the shire, is complete garbage. He’s so short that he was hired as Danny Devito’s stunt double. Which he was subsequently fired for being too short and now working in a live action disney movie as Tnker Bell
And further more, the Utah coaching staff is so bad that apparently Utah must be the only team that would employ them, not a single other team in the history of college football has ever been as bad as them. And they all want Utah state’s coaching staff to take over ASAP because Barnes is now the best QB to ever leave Utah.

Utah fans that are “realistic” are the worst. Jesus, a miserable bunch. But I guess I am just too optimistic. lol.
Look, Wilson was a QB at Corner Canyon. Zach was a top 2 pick in the NFL. Devin Brown started for Ohio State. Dart may be the #1 draft pick next spring. Hell, their worst QB Hagen plays for Yale.
If you are a QB at Corner Canyon, you are elite. Full stop. And for Utah fans to bag on Isaac the way they have and compare him to Bryson Barnes…
It’s offensive. It’s a sign they have no clue what they are talking about.
I’m not the least bit surprised with how Wilson played yesterday. And he wasn’t perfect. He was a super nervous kid and look how well he played. Imagine how great he will be when he is confident.
Again, he wasn’t perfect. And he missed some throws. But he is 18. Imagine how great his game would have been if Stanley and Kuithe would have helped him out with some tough catches. Yeah, the balls were high. But they hit both their hands. Stanley would have had a TD and Kuithe’s would have taken away a pick.
Imagine his statline if you added a TD and took off that INT.
Utah has arguably the best QB in the Big 12 with Rising and looks to have the best QB in the Big 12 the next two years in Wilson.
And if you think Wilson’s goals aren’t: Sit behind Rising, Start for two years, get drafted in the first round, then… I dunno. He’s a Corner Canyon QB and that is what they do.

One of the game chat guys (kmc) only comes around to whine when things get hairy. They disappear the second things turn around.

Wilson was amazing! I liked him even after the first 2 games, and I believe he has it in him to make it big in college football.

Absolutely agree. It’s something I pointed out to my brother when watching the game. You could see him going through his progressions and not just keying in on one receiver like most young QBs do. There was a lot to like in what we saw yesterday.

Agreed. I was very happy with how he went through his progressions. As others have stated, the game chat was brutal at the beginning of the game. Luckily, one of the people came back at the end and admittedly are some crow. Wilson looked good. Obviously, he wasn’t perfect, but I couldn’t ask someone in his position to do any better. Next year, he’ll have a year in the system and some very valuable game reps. The future is bright, and I’m typically a pessimist.

Yeah, I don’t say or post much, but some may remember I can be negative, and my usual target is the Oblock. But it’s more venting and about that play or game, not drawing conclusions and absolute statements.
One thing on the post game that was said that I didn’t notice but explained why the Dline looked not as good. They had Van or Conner playing some inside, playing with 3 DEs, reasoning was to give Barnes a new look.

Definitely saw some talent out of him.
Definitely saw some 18 year old deer in headlights too.
