Shelley becomes the number one with Rising as the two? Huntley doesn’t have the frame to be tackled by DEs or LBers. Just my opinion. He has a long stride, is quick and athletic. Perfect wideout that can stand a corner or a safety tackling him.

I thought Rising can’t play this year.

The scuttlebutt is that he might be able to get a waiver- He wants to study criminal justice but that wasn’t a major offered at Texas.

Look, I liked some of what Shelley did as well, but it seemed pretty clear to me that Huntley was the clear #1.
Yes, I get that injuries are obviously a major concern with him, but this is just silly. We need Shelley as a competent backup for if/when Huntley goes down.

Shelley did pretty damn well without Moss behind him. I kind of want to see him roll with Moss. As far as his performance in the bowl game and CCG. Are we really laying tip(in the hands mind you) interceptions on him? Hard for me to peg him down honestly.
He does the read better than Huntley in my view. He also hands off better than Huntley.

Huntley is more dynamic and has more experience. He is also quicker in making reads/decisions. I think Huntley gives us the best chance to win right now. Shelley flashed some potential in several games, but isn’t as game ready as Huntley is.

He didn’t have the best overall performance in the Holiday Bowl. I dont put tips on a QB unless it’s well behind or in front of the intended receiver. But JS was not his best in his last two games. He’s a great QB against mid to low competition. But he’s a bit of a different player against superior teams. I will agree on his reads and handoffs are MUCH better than TH. JS isn’t as selfish either. But his throws are where TH is much more superior and speed..

@narfute Texas has one of the best law schools in the country. I highly doubt he will get a waiver.
-
RiseasUtesParticipant
I doubt he will get the waiver, but he is probably going into the law enforcement side of criminal justice as opposed to the court side. That’s probably what he will try to use to get eligibility for this year.

EagleMountainUteParticipant
Post graduate correct?
-
ironman1315Participant
Huh? Criminal justice degree and law degrees are not even close to the same thing.
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
Criminal Justice isn’t law.

I’ve been saying this for a long time. I think Huntley would be our best receiver. He’d have a much better shot in the NFL at that position as well. Pretty much no shot in the NFL at QB.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
If he tries for the NFL it would be as an athlete I think and his best shot would be WR.

All I know is what a great problem to have. We have a proven winner in Huntley. Shelley has really shown a ton of upside. Now with Rising in the mix, it could be a fun couple of years.
-
tarheeluteParticipant
My guess is that Rising gets the waiver, and competes well enough to start or backup Huntley. Huntley will not switch to WR, even if Rising is the starter. If Huntley goes down or has a couple of down games warranting a change, Rising will, excuse the pun, rise the occasion, end the year as the starter.
-
PlainsUteParticipant
How about if Huntley, Shelley and Rising all line up in the backfield and let the opposition guess who will get the ball. I’ll call it the SRPO, Snap-Run-Pass-Option.
-
AlohaUteParticipant
I’m not sure what you were watching, but it seems pretty apparent to me that Huntley is a demonstrably better QB than Shelley. I like Shelley and he did fine, but Huntley was clearly better. I wouldn’t move Huntley at all.
