That the Big 12 is such a chaotic, disjointed, quixotic, truck-stoppish conference that its best team is currently 5-6 and might not make a bowl game? Would you believe it? Would you want to be in that conference? Oh yeah, third question…what would it take for Whitt to hang it up after this season? Is there anyone on this site who believes that Whitt will be able to re-invent himself next season with a new OC, 40-45 new players, and a high-powered offense?

Question 3: no chance in hell Whitt leaves 20 mil on the table and steps down. Sorry, I don’t believe all the people who have no concept of that kind of money who have this impression of a man they’ve probably never met, that he is altruistic enough to walk away from that amount. He’ll force Harlan to renegotiate his buyout so that he gets most, if not all of that money in a new contract which still allows him oversight of the program going forward. I will gladly post that I was wrong and then remove myself from this site if Whitt was to step down while leaving money on the table before 12-31-2024. Even Chris Petersen didn’t do that

Question 4: the man who brought back Ludwig when his rolodex ran dry and hired Bajakian (who he’d just witnessed his offense at Northwestern) to backstop Ludwig? Reinvent himself? Better chance Christensen gets another shot than reinvention to a high-powered offense

If Utah was a normal, upper-middle program in college football, this would be Whitt’s last season. No way, no how, that any program with CFP aspirations has two seasons like what Utah has had, two seasons of some of the worst offensive play in the nation, two seasons of the worst QB management anyone can recall, and says, “no problem, run it back coach.” This is hard to say because of all Whitt’s success in the last 20 years, but everything has an expiration date. Unless something unforeseen happens to change my mind, Whitt has reached his.

2008, don’t leave the site no matter what KW does. You’re a valuable poster and I enjoy your takes (even though the self-proclaimed contrarian in you never seems to challenge the trending negative opinions about Utah coaching 😜).

hee-hee. It is pretty much off brand for me not to be talking up another year of Whitt at this point isn’t it?

All you Whitt haters need to check yourself! He’s guaranteed to put up a 7-5 next year and get Utah in position for a playoff run in 2026. He’ll figure out the QB and OC issues if you negaUtes will just give him the time he’s earned.,, 🙂
