Let me first say that I believe it should be up to the players. Whatever gets them pumped. I am old guy and my choices would probably not resonate with them.
That being said, my choices would be:
Eye of the Tiger
Take Me On (Music only)Again, I am an old guy. What would you pick?
-
ALUFParticipant
Wake up by rage against the machine
Joker and the thief has been good though
-
MDUteParticipant
I agree with ya on both. Rage against the machine could be good. But I’ve like Joker and Thief and think it works well.
-
-
AlohaUteParticipant
Bro Hymn by Pennywise
The opening of Blind by Korn.
-
MDUteParticipant
whatever the song is, the goal should be an entrance like one of these (nothing can beat VA Tech’s Enter Sandman IMO):
-
AlohaUteParticipant
Yep, both mine would for that well. I think bro hymn especially would.
-
PhatmanandyParticipant
The VT, Enter Sandman intro gives me chills every time I watch it. Literally every person in that stadium is jumping up and down, even those on the field. I wish Utah had something like this.
-
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
I love the idea of the opening of Blind. “Are you ready!”

AC/DC – Hell’s Bells
-
BDParticipant
AC/DC – Thunderstruck? Probably being used elsewhere so it might not be very original or unique.
AC/DC – It’s a Long Way to the Top
Led Zeppelin – Immigrant Song
Ozzy – Crazy Train
Ozzy – Flying High Again
Ozzy – Shot In the DarkVan Halen – Running With the Devil
Parachute – Higher
If it were up to me, I would keep it with some heavy metal song. Not sure what though.
-
EmersonUteParticipant
Careless whisper
-
MDUteParticipant
All right, give me some honest feedback. This is the song I’ve always thought would be perfect for an entrance song. Because I think it’s new enough to appeal to the younger generation but still has enough of a good sound to crossover to the older generation. As I’m listening to it, I can see the team on the Video Board walking out of the locker room through the hype tunnel to the field. But let me know your thoughts.
-
2008 National ChampParticipant
not really much of an intro to the song.
The reason Metallica is used in so many places is because of their 1 to 2 minute instrumentals which lend themselves to the anticipation of the team coming onto the field.
I’ve always thought the dueling drummers on this one would be pretty good for the buildup but doubt the lyrics would go over.,,
-
MDUteParticipant
Yea good point. I think they made a good pick with Joker and the Thief. Do you like it?
-
2008 National ChampParticipant
I mean, it meets the requirements for a walk up song. but so do Iron Man and Papa Was a Rolling Stone. After that it comes down to taste.

MDUteParticipant
Yes Bama and a couple others uses AC/DC Thunderstruck. But good call on that one, that’s the type of song that works for sure

Metallica – The intro to Am I Evil

Pink Floyd “Run Like Hell”

Lone Ranger theme song.

Another one that might work is Eminem – Lose Yourself

Ruff Ryders Anthem by DMX

Montero – Lil Nas X

How about we pay post Malone to write an original Utah themed song?
-
AZUTEParticipant
Ozzy Osbourne opening “O Fortuna”
Coolest concert I’ve ever been to.
Lights go out and then the team runs through the fire flames and smokeStrobe lights and highlights synchronized to the music.
This would only really play well during night games
-
GameForAnyFussParticipant
This topic is a pet peeve of mine. The only correct answer is: Play whatever music the majority of the team likes. So likely some modern hip hop…Migos, Drake, 21 Savage, etc.
Our fans are predominantly older white males, therefore you want music that appeals to older white males. I’m sorry but our players do not like butt rock. Play your ACDC, Led Zeppelin, and GnR in the car on your way to the game. During the game, the music exists to hype up the players, who are young males of multiple races. Therefore it has to be rap.
-
2008 National ChampParticipant
the point of an entrance song is to bring the 55k + to a fever pitch, thus songs that appeal to that demographic
Virginia Tech is really the gold standard and Clemson’s is worth the watch also. They both have the same fan v team demographics so I’m doubtful that the choice was made per a player vote.
-
MDUteParticipant
This ^^!! A big part of the problem with our entrance is our fans not all being in their seats 1/2 hour prior to kickoff. We’re getting better, especially when it’s a point of emphasis like for the Florida game. But the programs with the best entrance like VA Tech, Clemson etc all have their stadiums full and ready to start the show! I think Utah can get there in spite of all the reasons thrown out there by the naysayers such as Saturday youth leagues etc. These are all just excuses of a culture that has grown accustomed to being late to things. But the fanbase has shown its ability to show up on time before to suggest we can have that great atmosphere at the beginning for the team entrance and start to games.
-
GameForAnyFussParticipant
It should be selected per a player vote. Sports belongs to the players, not the fans. We are along for the ride. And if you could ask a player and get an honest answer, you would learn that butt rock is not what they want to hear.
-
UteThunderParticipant
Sports belongs to the players? Get real. If it wasn’t for the fans, none of these players would have a team to play on.
-
2008 National ChampParticipant
I don’t need to ask the players their favourite type of music, it is as varied as the number of players in room. Always has been, always will be.
At the same time, Disney trying to dictate to their audience is a big reason why they are producing a lot of flops these days. So maybe it’s a good idea to produce a movie that makes ticket buyers happy instead of the actors.,,

The Miami UteParticipant
You ever hear the phrase “he who pays the piper calls the tune?”. The players are just entertainers and need to do things to appeal to their fan base not the other way around.
-
GameForAnyFussParticipant
I’ve heard that phrase, but just because it is a semi-popular phrase does not make it correct. Games belong to the players.
-
The Miami UteParticipant
Without the fans and their interest, there are no players. None of these guys are getting millions in NIL deals because they’re great football players. They’re getting the money because large numbers of people pay large amounts of money to watch them play. You say the games belong to the players? Fine, let them play in front of empty stands and see how long that lasts.
-
2008 National ChampParticipant
seems like we just had that experiment a couple of years ago. And every athletic department in the country lost a ton of money

I would play this:
-
OnlyuParticipant
All I know is when the Joker and the Thief starts playing it means one thing in my mind WHEREVER I’m at…Utah football!!! I get goose bumps, my nostrils flare and my eyes get wide! It’s time!!!
My point is you have the song, you have the tradition and it’s electric when RES is full.
The question becomes how to you ensure, week in and week out, that you have the VT “Sandman” type entrance??
Sometime around August 1st climb on the stairclimber, the bike or the tread and start that song!! Let me know how that workout goes!!
-
MDUteParticipant
OnlyU, how did things go with the big weekend of OVs? How many of the 4/5* headliners do you think we land? Is it realistic we might see Myles flip back to Utah?
-
OnlyuParticipant
Weekend was fantastic…we’ll land a few of these guys (another one or two in the next few days I think) and we opened the eyes of a few others which will make their decisions a lot tougher.
Can’t say how many we get yet but went about as well as you could hope for.
-
MDUteParticipant
Love it! So excited and thanks as always!!
