I was just reading an article about how Vandy fans felt like Ludwig was too conservative. This made me realize how much I appreciated Taylor staying aggressive in games, particularly going into the half.

Nothing frustrates me more than having 1:00 left in the half and kneeling to head into the locker room.

Not getting the ball back after half? Great, be smart, attack and try to squeeze in some points. Do everything you can to score. We have Matt Gay (not anymore).

Getting the ball back after half? Great, two chances in a row to seize the momentum and put the game away.

With one minute left in the half and two timeouts, what will Ludwig do?

I always felt like that was Whitt’s call. It used to be rush up the middle twice and limp into the half. Past few years when you have some playmakers you take the shots.

Ludwig will do what Whitt wants to do.

Well, when your all-time greatest football alumn is Jay Cutler, it’s understandable why they have such lofty standards for OC.

A lot more goes into this decision than just “try to get points because there is still time on the clock.”

Field position, number of timeouts left, momentum, weather conditions, how well your offense has been moving the ball, defensive alignment, etc.

I think Whittingham has done a pretty good job of knowing when to chase some points prior to halftime and when it would be best to take a knee so you can regroup for the 2nd half without risking a costly turnover. My guess is Whit will continue to do that with Ludwig.

Don’t forget you have kicker with the potential of a 50-60 depending on conditions. Not sure if Whitt has that luxury anymore.

Agreed. Lots of factors at play for those decisions. However, all else being equal, it seemed like we kept our foot on the gas this year more than years past. Or am I missing something?

Gay was a big part of it first sure.

Get Zach Moss 1500+ yards rushing and get 3100+ yds passing for Tyler Huntley (or whovever ends up at QB).
