I think JJ was more instrumental last year than most people think. With JJ and MB this year I think we could be undefeated with whomever we threw out at QB.
Is the problem more about not having two quality RBs? or more about the QB situation? I think JJ and MB would cover a multitude of issues elsewhere.
The same… the RB room isn’t the problem. We would have the same record even if we had JJ and Jeanty from Boise State. We’re a mediocre running team with a few short passes to the sidelines. Way too predictable.
Bull s**t. JJ had 10 TD’s his first 6 games at Arkansas. He’d be the best athlete on the team. Utah is 10th in the conference in rushing this year. With Jj banged up they were 3rd last year and with Tavion they were first.
A 2nd good RB would help. JJ was injured vs LSU and out Miss St. and might be out Ole Miss, so on par. Ankle issues. Maybe that lightens the load and JJ and MB split more, but having a less experienced qb has stacked the box which might be the biggest issue.
agreed there are deep issues. But like the Houston game…that would have shifted with even a minor nudge. Thinking we might have survived the ASU or TCU games isn’t a stretch.
Doesn’t mean we’d be a good team. Only that our D and a tiny bit more O would have shifted the outcomes of those two games. That being said…we are clearly suffering from a lack of leadership and cohesion which doomed our season to mediocrity at best…at best.
Having JJ, Cam hands it off instead of scrambles playing Baylor, not getting his finger cut/dislocation and keeps playing and we are 8-0. What if … I stepped on a butterfly ;). But we pay JJ and Cam leaves, so we have Rose handing off to JJ and they stack the box and our qb throws a lot of interceptions and we are 4-4…
We’d have probably clawed out 2 more wins. It’s hard to deny how our lack of RB depth has impacted us. But we’d still fundamentally have the same problems and wouldn’t be a significantly better team.
