I would bet we would be in a better position than we are today. I saw someone say although he never set the world on fire with the Pig Farmer was almost always beat the teams we were supposed to beat (ASU, Zona, Houston and maybe TCU).

The Pig Farmer gave us a guy who played in the system for years and who could come in and game manage the offense. I think Whitt and co. got caught up in the new shiny toy and gave up or ushered out the tried and true. The Pig Farmer had to know Cam was going to get hurt. He might not have been the guy day 1 but he would have had his shot and I believe he would have offered better consistency.

It’s a shame – we may have looked to the future a little too early and now are paying the price or no reliable back up

I agree with others – what do we have to lose with Huard – he has the most experience in the room – give him a shot….

You know, I’ve been thinking about that quite a bit. If Barnes had stayed and performed as last year, we’re easily, at worst, 6-2, and possibly undefeated. Given the circumstances, I’m sure that Barnes is also probably kicking himself for transferring. I get that he wanted to play but he’s a backup as USU as well.

Probably beat Arizona, TCU, Houston, and lose to ASU still. Honestly don’t know if we beat OK St with Barnes. Feels like that could’ve looked like the Baylor game did last year where he was pulled for NJ. Again, the offense was not good last year, the team was just better at not losing games they shouldn’t,

Really Ghost, do you think we lose to ASU? Personally, I think the likeliest loss would have been to Zona, but that’s just me. I can definitely see a path for this team to be undefeated with regular, not outstanding, play from Barnes.

I agree. Barnes was able to beat get something out of the offense. JJ was chronically injured last year so it’s not like our RB room was any better and we had far less talent at the other skill positions. He played much tougher games to this point in the season. This season is purely abysmal from a SOS standpoint which makes the losses even more absurd.

I think we’d have maybe 2 more wins.

I don’t think we would be. He’s not even a starter at Utah State.
