ParticipantMostly here. There’s also Salty Utes but it’s not very active yet.

ParticipantThanks, it’s good to see a lot of names I recognize.
I went by UTEthanasia over on Utefans, I took that name way back in the bleak Basketball years.
Far less cynical towards Ute sports these days.

ParticipantUtahby5.com is around too, lots of old UFN folks over there.
I really wish we had one consolidated board though.

ParticipantThey will consolidate to the most active community.
I’ve never been on Utahby5 or SaltyUtes.
Are either of them as active as here?
Do either of them get scoops or insider information faster than we have here?
Those would be two main determining factors for which one “comes out on top”… eventually. -

Participantthat site tried to give me a virus the first and last time I went there

ParticipantThe business owner in me has me wondering if Webmonkey’s beneficiary is going to try to sell Utefans.net? I don’t know who that might be. He was going through a divorce or may be officially divorced already from his wife. Does anyone know if their divorce is final? If not look for her to try and sell it. It would probably take a while for the courts to settle everying out with it but I wouldn’t be surprised if Utefans was put on the auction block to the highest bidder! I did think it was odd that is ex-wife was calling him her husband on facebook after he passed. She may be positioning for court battles. I will say that I used to advertise on Utefans.net and it was not very succesful so I don’t know how much that site/business is worth.

ParticipantThere are numerous sites out there that will give you a rough estimate on it’s worth, after he passed I started looking at the cost of the site and i’m seeing the “estimated” value anywhere from $49 to $15k.

ParticipantIn the world of the Interwebs things get stale faster than a carton of milk. Wouldn’t trust any of those valuations with its current state and its recent history.
-
Big Z
ParticipantYeah i’m guessing it’s on the lower end of the scale now on the value which is sad.

KeymasterI’ve considered seeing if I can get the UFN database to create a historical archive here of all the old UFN posts. I also thought of doing a fundraiser here to raise money to buy out UFN and integrate it here, or point the DNS or whatever. The true value will probably never be known because I’m guessing the only person who ever knew how much money the site really made is now deceased. My other option, which seems to be working, is to let whoever owns/runs it to continue to ruin while I provide a place for UFN refugees to re-congregate.

ParticipantI’d redirect the traffic, and try to get the archive and user database. Other than that, i don’t think it’s worth much.

ParticipantWorth, DCF several years of banner popup advertizing. My guess a few thousand at most. Few will pay for “potential” since that is required to pay for the acquistition. Who knows, maybe the site simply dies. We’ll see.

ParticipantThere are a few, if you’re looking for a free Message Board you have this one and UB5. Paid you have the rival and scout site, but there’s also groups on facebook UteNation and Ute Fan Faithful. So there’s plenty to go around, all usually have the same information.

ParticipantWell, I just want a place that isn’t going to be down for 1 week at the end of every month. That got old really quickly.

ParticipantThis site seems as active as any of them. UFN is showing slow signs of life like someone is trying to revive it. Today it’s back to where it was a few weeks ago with old postings showing (but seemingly can’t log in or make new posts).
If UFN can’t going again, (may be that the knowledge to do so was lost when Chris passed away) this site just might be what rises from the ashes.
