Ol’ LeftyParticipant
As the season nears I get real excited for Utah football. First home game is always fun to see which people have developed over the off season. Cant wait to see what everybody looks like on the field. It seems like there is always someone who just shows up bigger, faster, more confident or just plays more of a successful role compared to last year. I think I have watched all the last years (and more ha ha) games on YouTube and a several people have me really intrigued. Besides the big name guys there are a bunch that have lots of upside. I think Money Parks could have a breakout year. He is so fast and once he has the ball he’s off to the races. I think Pepa is going to be a force on the line. He was getting into the backfield more as the season progressed. Connor O’Toole moves well, but was playing catch up a bit last year and I think that changes this year. Vaki played big in some of the biggest games. Big hits, physical play. Yassmin!! Cant wait to see him with the ball!!
What players are you guys intrigued by and what have you heard from fall camp? -

I am a big Pepa fan. If he has lost some weight and is in better shape – he could have a great season.
I think Yassmin has a good chance to have a very good year. He is one tough dude to bring down.
Vaki could have an amazing season and Barton could be in the mix for PAC12 D player of the year.

I want to see a jump in edge rusher, I love Elliss and O’Toole was really coming along. I’d love to see them take a big leap forward. Feels like we haven’t had an amazing edge rusher since Anae and he might not have been as good as the few before him.

I think Ellis is a good pick. I was impressed with him in limited action last year.

Vaki, Pepa, O’Toole, and Yassmin.
Vaki: looked amazing last year as an inexperienced player. With an offseason as being the starter, I expect him to be way better.
Pepa: Reportedly lost the bad weight, which can only improve his stamina and technique.
O’Toole: Last season was his first at DE if I’m not mistaken. He was a bit undersized and very inexperienced, but he looked way better over the course of the season. It seems that he put on about 9-10 pounds of good weight, and with his experience and an offseason to perfect his craft, I’m hoping he can be a good edge rusher. Utah has really missed that in the past few years.
Yassmin: Looked great for a “3rd string” TE who did not have much in game experience. Also had a few drops. With an offseason as the starter and hopefully working on his catching, he could definitely surprise people. Although it wouldn’t surprise us.

I would LOVE for the most improved player to be a WR, but I really don’t see that happening, even if they are the most improved unit, we won’t get the chance to see it (unless Barnes is better at noticing them than Rising).
I think the most improved player will be Jackson. While he played pretty well last year, he had ball security issues and he looked uncomfortable at times doing the little things that our running backs usually do super well. I think he’ll be way better catching out of the backfield, much better blocking, better ball security, and better at reading the defense.
Vaki is also one that I expect to take a big step forward. It could also be ZV.

I’m expecting JJ to be a lot better, he switched to rb in the middle of last season, and was phenomenal, he didn’t even have a full offseason to prepare and he was awesome, after a full offseason of learning the position further, and improving in everything that he needs to fix up, I think that he is going to be amazing.
