Does anyone else get the impression that Whitt is done with football ? I’m not saying this as an over reaction to the loss tonight but based on his body language and some of the things he has said over the past two games. He looks tired, aged and sometimes just uninterested. When he said all things come to an end was he talking about the streak or his coaching career? It’s almost like with how the 2019 season ended and then Tys death was so emotionally draining that he lost the passion. Anyone else or am I just reading too much in to it?

I confess I’ve had similar thoughts. Our intuition might not be so crazy considering he’s almost 62 and has said many times he never wanted to coach past 60.

It’s very possible he wants to retire.

While I think the loss of Ty Jordan had an impact. I almost feel like the recent loss of Coach Pease as more impactful. I am just grateful for the time he continues to give.

Perhaps he’s lost his edge not being able to play the underdogs role or perhaps he’s letting go of the reigns a bit. I’ve wondered this many times, that perhaps he’s entering the Lavell Edwards late coaching stages where he’s the face of the program, but his imprint is fading and he’s allowing coordinators to run the program more and more… some very Un-Whitt like things happening of late 1) saying the streak won’t last forever during rivalry week, un-Whitt like. 2) losing a game, ok, but having a team get out physicalled, un-Whitt like. 3) I’ll start from 2018 where Utah is up 20 pts at half time to Northwestern and then turns the ball over 5 times in the second half on called pass plays. Have you ever seen anything more un-Whitt like? That’s when we started to lose bowl games and get out physicalled in conference championships and bowl games. 4) getting out physicalled by your rival in the trenches, very un-Whitt like.

Me checking to see if we’re overreacting on the board this morning.

If the next game goes anything like this one, even if we still win, but get muscled in the trenches, then just stick a fork in us.

His comments have been telling for sure. Going back to the Oregon loss in 2019, KW’s record is 4-5. The Oregon game took it’s toll and the other events mentioned above to include the Scalley drama have I’m sure wore him down. Covid surely did not help. Once that switch flips it’s hard to hide it and stay motivated. I think this season will be a defining period for KW. I’m sure he would love to get the P12 Chanpionship prize and break the most wins record before he retires. Not sure he’s going to have the drive and energy to get there. I think he needs 6 or 7 more wins to break the record. At this point, not sure where all those wins are coming from. Stanford and OS are far from gimme games, both on the road. The South is loaded. CU took TAMU to the wire.

Utes very well should of lost the Oregon State, watch that game, OSU completely gave that game away and WSU was won on some breaks and Utes being more talented. Utah has not truly played a solid game in almost two years. There just seems to be a lot of time in games where there’s a lack of mental focus and the game plan did not seem right. Hope this is just a bad game and move on situation.

The entire team seemed emotionally dead yesterday. Probably the most straight faced I’ve ever seen the Utes, especially in a rivalry game.
