Offseason discussion topic.  Who is your all-time Utah basketball starting five?  Here’s mine:

      Guard: Andre Miller
      Guard: Jimmy Soto
      Forward: Danny Vranes
      Forward: Keith Van Horn
      Center: Andrew Bogut

Trade Mike Newlin for Soto and Billy McGill for Bogut.

How good was Tom Chambers? His number hasn’t been retired, but I have memories of him being great. Where would he rank all time in the Utah Centers list?

He was drafted #8 in the NBA so I take it that he was really good, and I’d say he had a better NBA career than Bogut so far.

Chambers is the only NBA player to score 20,000+ points and not make it to the Hall of Fame.

His number was retired by the Phoenix Suns.  He was a stud.  The Vranes, Chambers, Bankowski group was awesome.

For an all time list, you certainly have to include Arnie Ferrin (4 time All American and helped lead the Utes to NCAA and NIT titles.)

Good list.   I might replace Jimmy Soto with Delon Wright or Pace Mannion.

I can only really comment on players I have watched, which would start in the Jerry Pimm era.

      Starters:
      G – Jeff Jonas
      G – Andre Miller
      F – Danny Vranes
      F – Keith Van Horn
      C – Andrew Bogut

      Second team
      G – Delon Wright
      G – Jeff Judkins
      F – Josh Grant
      F – Tom Chambers
      C – Mike Doleac

I’d put Ninja Poetl on the second team.

I would replace Soto with Ticky Burden and Bogut with Billy McGill.

Kelvin was a nice player. Not in Newlin’s, Ticky’s, or several others league.

Who on this list would have been a PAC 12 POY as a sophomore? Well Poetel was.

I don’t know where you put him but you can’t leave him off a two deep roster.

Is it weird that Utah went further, to the title game, without Van Horn?

Andre Miller he is the GOAT Ute basketball player to me always and forever. He also was a class act and great person all around.
