I’ve been rewatching quite a few Utah games from the Baby Giraffe era and am amazed at the fact he seemed to gave one or two TDs on the QB keeper/dive a game. Okay, maybe it just seemed that way based on watching quite a few 2015 games and the 2014 LV bowl, but still he had a lot comparatively.

Wilson is the leader in Utah history for games played (46), games started (39) and wins (24).

      2016 – Williams 5 rushing TDs/Huntley 1 Rushing TD

2015 – Wilson 7 rushing TDs (i’ve been watching quite a few 2015 games, so this makes sense)

2014 – Wilson had 4 rushing TDs (Funny I just rewatched the CSU LV bowl game, he had three)

      2013 – Wilson had 5/Schulz had 1

2012 – Wilson had 4, Wynn had 0 (I can’t believe Wynn was only back in 2012, it seems like a decade. Who is this QB Chase Hansen, wonder what ever happened to him?)

      2011 – Wynn/Hays/Robles – 0

      2010 – Cain had 1, Wynn had 0

      2009 – 404 error from the link on Utahutes.com

2008 – 404 error (wanted to see what Johnson had)

In answer to your question, I believe TW had a lot of running TDs (and runs on 3rd and 4th for short) because he was really good at running the QB option (even though it was usually just a QB keeper). The guy was really tough, surprisingly fast, and could cover a lot of ground by just falling forward. A run by TW was also a pretty safe call (low probability of a turnover).

Also, at times, Travis struggled to see the field, so he would just take off and run to make something happen.

I was at that game in the Big House. I went from cheering to dead-silent-surrender-cobra so quickly in that moment.

I was in the NICU parents’ room when I watched that happen.

2014 was about 1 foot shy of 5 TDs though for baby giraffe, I prefer the ‘Hercules’ Travis to the scorpion Travis.

That was awful. My stomach turned when that happened. Glad he was ok.
