ParticipantHe is doing very well for this team and is the future. He is clearly not ready to be the guy yet. I hope this experience doesn’t break him. Too many armchair quarterbacks criticizing his play. Some coaching decisions seem questionable from a fan perspective. MLB has a farm system and rarely bring up a pitcher until they are ready.

ParticipantWilson did what he could do. No fault for a freshman this early in the season not single handedly winning the game.
A lack of depth at running back. Terrible play calling. No D showing up half of the game allowing us to be repeatedly burned.
We were out coached. We went away from the strength we showed in the OSU game. We lacked any semblance of balance. and going for it on 4th and 2+++ and not letting our run game establish anything while leaving easy 3s on the field totally changed the flavor of the game.
Thats on the players who didn’t step up and more on the coaches who were out coached throughout the game. Wilson did fine. Singer did great. the Fans did great. But as a whole, this team is not a top 10 team and we’re better off than we were last year but we are not going to burn the world down or dominate this conference. We may do okay but this is not going to be a miracle season. the hype train when it was announced that Cam was coming back (hah) and that Kuithe was returning (he looks like an injured soldier after every big play) makes it time to moderate expectations some. Depth at running back is absolutely the biggest lack on this team though.

ParticipantWe know he’s a freshman. We aren’t angry at him, we are ticked at Cam and the coaching staff.

ParticipantYeah we know.
So why not take the points? Make it 9-3. Take pressure off the kid.
The analytics don’t have a scenario with a true freshman qb at home fizzling in the RedZone and then FORCING you to go for it on fourth down no matter in the fourth.
Clearly the defense has a closing problem to. So the analytics are just wrong. You can’t rely on them to make those crucial decisions. If you are going to play the TOP game then take 3 points every time you can get them.

ParticipantHonestly don’t think I can remember a game where we weren’t down by 14+ where I watched Whitt just choose to leave the easy points on the field. It was baffling especially the second time.

ParticipantAt that point Utah wasn’t even down 14 which makes it worst looking at the whole game. With Wilson you take points when you can get them.

ParticipantRisen should have been brought in at the half , his experience and the momentum would have changed the games outcome
