Not surprising, but here it is.
Whittingham opens the press conference: "Tough weekend in Tempe, Cam Rising is out indefinitely, Isaac Wilson will be our starter until further notice."

Announcing IW as this week’s starter is a good first step. I don’t want to simulate Whitt’s thought process regarding rest of year.
I wish for all involved, most importantly the team, this would be settled and IW made QB1 and Rose QB2 rest of year. I don’t even want to think about the potential for continued whiplash with Cam’s status, maddening.

Very unfortunate for Cam.
Glad to see Whittingham taking a step towards transparency.
Not one word more than necessary. Which is all the situation required.

Also. I won’t be too surprised if that is just a charade to fool TCU into preparing for Wilson, just to have Rising lead the team.

Bummed for Cam, he certainly didn’t envision his last year going like this. I wish him the best and I wouldn’t be upset to see him play again if he can.
Moving forward, it’s nice to have some certainty and predictability. Whit hasn’t handled the injuries piece well. Hope this is a change of culture.

If Cam wants an 8th year I would prefer he do it somewhere else. Wilson is now going to have 9 starts under his belt assuming he makes it through the season and he should be the guy going into next year. You can’t have Cam taking any NIL money after this season.

If he chooses to stay, then Whitt needs to make it clear that he is not the incumbent starter, it will be a QB battle and if it’s even close Wilson will get the nod. Also reduce his NIL, if he stays great if he doesn’t then I wish him the best. I can’t pretend Rising as a backup that isn’t getting banged up every week and could step in when needed wouldn’t be great for depth, assuming he recovers well enough to put some zip on the ball again.

This is what happens when your body is held together with duct tape and prayers.
Cam is a warrior but he needs to medical retire and let the Wilson era begin.
The team the fans the coaches have been sitting around for two seasons waiting for cam to get healthy and save the day.
It just not going to happen his body is to broken. He’ll never be 100 % ever again

I’m not sure what to think. They’re obviously doing the right thing and so I’m happy we’re finally moving forward decisively. I just worry it’s too little, too late. They should’ve made this decision at halftime against ASU. Everybody knew that (each of us, Dorian Singer, Brant Kuithe, everyone at ASU, etc.). If they had, we might still control our own destiny.
We can still salvage this season such that we don’t lose the momentum our program has been building for the past decade plus, but it depends on A) if Whitt hasn’t lost the locker room, B) if our defense can get healthy, and C) most importantly if we can find enough improvement in the red zone.
It might sound ludicrous but I still think the talent on our roster (ex-Cam) is capable of beating any of the teams left on our schedule. Our odds of making the B12 title game at this point are so low that it’s not even worth hoping for. Take it one game at a time from here. Fortunately, we have a couple relatively easier games and then another bye before the biggest game of the year. My hope (which I understand is a hope) is that we can win 8 games and beat BYU at home. With my reset expectations, I would consider that type of season a huge win.

It’s not ludicrous. I do believe that the talent is there to still accomplish everything the team wanted this season which is to get to the CCG and play their way into the playoff. But it’s going to require what should have been done prior to the USU game, and absolutely should have been done in 2023, which is tailor the damn offense for the skillset of the guy you have at QB instead of pretending he’s just a placeholder for the guy who isn’t available.
It’s not going to be easy and the team shouldn’t be considered anything more than a toss-up in any remaining game. But you don’t eat an elephant in one bite. You strap on your lobster pictured bib, settle in for the long haul and take one small bite at a time until you’ve reduced that damn elephant to a pile of bone and ligament.
Now is the time we find out whether this is truly a team with one vision or a collection of individuals wearing the same outfit. And the coaches need to get on board or get out of the way because their way wasn’t getting the job done.

Hopefully this will pull the team together and erase any uncertainty. The season is only half over and a lot will happen through the end of November.
