Yes, it was probably a bad call in hindsight. But if it wasn’t for Whitt’s decisions earlier in the game they wouldn’t have even been in it at the end (on side kick, fake punt).

yep. dumb call, but too much hate on Whitt. He did a good job this game.

Defense gave up 10 points in 58 seconds. Whit did fine, defense failed.

Yep. UW was a 17.5 point favorite. I fully expected to be blown out. I got my hopes up for a win as the game wore on, but this season has been largely over since the USC loss. I mean, is there really a difference between 2nd and 5th in the P12 south? We’ve been preparing for next season ever since they made Huntley the starter in the summer.

Lol, probably a bad call?  It was probably a bad call by Sitake to fake a punt on 4th and 19 at his own two, but just in hindsight right?

It’s always a bad call if it doesn’t work out.  You’d be calling for his head after the on side kick and fake punt had they failed.

I’m all for taking a gamble here and there, the TO was just a dumbass move and I yelled at Whitt(at the tv) as soon as he took it.  There was nothing to gain there, at all.  Not sure how you are able to make those comparisons.  No hindsight involved in my not being happy with that move, it was stupid then and now.

What if Browning threw a pick-6 on that 4th & 10?  Or intercepted and ran back into FG range?  Whitt would have looked like a genius for not letting the game go to OT.

I don’t believe a game is ever decided by just one coaching decision.  Because had he made different decisions the game may have never even been competitive in the end.  We as fans always focus on the final few plays and never think about the hundreds of decisions that got the team to that point.

He played against the odds much of the game.  The multiple fourth down attempts. Onside kick after a score.  Those don’t win games statistically speaking.  That line of thinking is fun but again Whitt is generally an odds guy and taking the time out was bad odds.

Nope. Inexcusable. Whitt coaches to win games. An L is an L. Purely on Whitt. I think Whitt is in over his head.

There’s a difference between good/bad decisions when they’re made on the last play or last series of the game. You can’t recover from that.

Let’s not pretend like Whit coached a hell of a game. He basically threw caution to the wind because we had nothing to lose. He knew our bowl eligibilty would likely come down to Colorado, so why not take some big risks tonight?

Unfortunately, when his risk taking paid off, he didn’t start coaching like a smart coach.

Exactly. Whitt has become Mcbride. Good coach but in over his head.

He has been McBride since he took over if you really analyze it. I call him McWhitt for tht reason.

Whitt needed time. But the time has come.

As with most things in life, one bad decision can have devistating results.

UteFanatic – we are taking this argument to multiple threads. Your line of subjective thinking is not backed by statistical analysis (science and math). Point in time matters. Not all decisions and plays have same leverage.
