They want to further their careers. And they only have 12 games a year to create film for NFL scouts to look at and evaluate.
It is completely unfair to them to ask them to sit out a game, where they could rack up their stats and give themselves a better shot at playing in the NFL.
Completely agree, I believe Hans made this point on Twitter on Saturday with regards to the Hansen ejection. Also, given that it’s senior day on top of everything, are you really going to sit a senior who would normally start the game? A game that no-doubt a lot of his family is in attendance for?
Let the boys play. Would you really want to tell a senior playing his last game at RES that he is going to sit?? maybe after we get a comfortable lead then sit them down. They want to play!!!!!
I would rather tell them that rather than “sorry you got hurt playing a horrible team that didn’t matter and won’t play in the Conference Championship and Rose Bowl”.
I am advocate for playing the starters. I think Shelly and Shyne need all the reps they can get, this is a good game for them to get ready for next week. Plus, I look forward to seeing what else Shelly can do.
Shelley and Shyne have looked just fine in the games they’ve played. Reps against an inferior oppenent won’t improve anything other than maybe giving them a false sense of well-being.
What’s wrong with publicly saying we’re going to rest all our starters and let BYU get their hopes up?
In the meantime, it’s business as usual at practice. That way we all get to laugh when we see BYU’s coaches, fans and players turn pale as our starters take the field on Saturday. Psych!
