ParticipantLooks like we got a real QB competition, thank goodness.

KeymasterSuper. We need about 12 more.

ParticipantLast year we thought we had an improved stable of QBs over the previous year, and they were equally ineffective. I have hope that the new staff will be able to get more out of this group of QBs, but I refuse to drink the kool aid until we see the on field product against a proven good team. I thought we were in for a great season when Wilson helped us win against Ok St, but they turned out to be awful this year just like us.
I’m liking the additions to the staff and the roster, but I will reserve judgement until no sooner than game 4.

ModeratorOur 2024 season = 2010 TCU game as far as the effect it’s had on our collective psyche.

ParticipantThat is the most depressed after a game in any sport I have ever been and it lasted a long time ☹️

ParticipantCorrect you are chinngiskhaan. Per the rating services, this new QB room is less impressive than the ineffective one we’d just finished with.
At least this guy is north of 200-lbs. Even if just barely. If we’re going to insist on deploying the dual-threat QBs, we’re going to need a durable one who can weather the inevitable hits he’s going to take.
Personally, I prefer the pro-style, drop back passers. If you’re playing from behind, these are the guys that are more apt at getting us back into the game.

ParticipantIf we just limit the evaluation of the portal ins/outs to recruiting rankings, Utah is down across the board from the “deepest and most talented” roster Whitt has ever put together and it’s not even close. We won’t get a true indication of whether the staff and the ranking services are better at identifying talent the 2nd time around until August 30 at the Rose Bowl.

The Miami Ute
ParticipantAll I have to say is that I hope he contributes more to the program than Tommy Grady and Kendal Thompson, the last two QBs that transferred from Oklahoma to Utah. The more legit P4 QBs in a QB room, the better. His presence surely can’t hurt.

ParticipantAs someone pointed out in another thread regarding spring camp, we may not have one of these QBs and others after camp. ☹️

ParticipantWe had 0 literally. Now we have 3. That is improvement no matter how you cut it. It does not mean we will be getting trashed in Columbus next December however.
