He’s definitely fun to watch and gave me flashbacks of Joe Williams. Whitt calls him an explosive guy, smooth, athletic, etc. in his post-game. Hopefully Stanley continues to make a big impact this year!

When the news broke, someone close to the family said he wasn’t interested because he’d already transferred and adjusted to a new program once. The other reason was his family is decently well off, so the money wasn’t a big factor for him.

I doubt very much we were offering the same for him, especially as 2nd on the depth chart.

Vaki’s touches, afaik, were the same packages from previous weeks. Oregon would signal Vaki was on the field and key in on him, since they knew he was getting the ball. It’s extra challenging when your offense can’t sustain drives. But, our offense is also a reflection of our defense-first mentality, so I don’t think the offensive woes give the D a pass.

Otherwise, it’s predictable and ineffective.

Also-I don’t believe we’d be any better with a transfer QB. I think Utah is a tough place for a QB to develop and thrive.

Love Barnes. He exemplifies Utah’s ideology. It seems like his decision making is improving, save for a few obvious plays, including the pick six (ouch).

Tangential, can we get Johnson out on the field somehow? Seems like his athleticism should be able to fit somewhere on the field.

Agreed. We can nitpick, but we’re really, really fortunate.

The steady improvement is honestly amazing. Also kudos to the administration for having patience during our first years in the PAC. Many would have made a coaching change.

I love our Utes, but QB recruiting and development has been a serious weakness. I don’t believe we’ve consistently missed on our HS recruiting commits. But once on campus, the evaluation goes experience > football IQ/playbook > not turning the ball over > running ability. And coaching focuses on developing those attributes.

I found being active in the faith and attending the U pretty normal. There are a few professors (social sciences mainly) that will disagree with church teachings or policies and may comment about it. Great post! Yesterday was a tremendous accomplishment for the program. It’s good to recognize the large number that were involved to get us to this point. We’re very fortunate to have many quality coaches, players, and assistants over the years. Happy early birthday!
