good call – that rule change will be a new wrinkle to not worry about an incomplete pass getting behind the chains and a whole 3 and out possession (which I hope are very few!) last only 0:19 on the clock.

I agree, but still wonder about Whitt wanting TOP to be a big part of the game plan. I wonder about the pace of play as well as pass/run ratio. I think Whitt likes 50/50, but I agree that we can go more towards 60/40 or 65/35, using the run game to keep things honest and run the clock while taking a few more shots downfield. TEs will be a big part…[Read more]

Bernard is better at picking up blocks when needed. He was the more all around RB – run, catch, block. JQJ might have been bigger, but he missed more blocking assignments as he was still getting back into improving at RB.

Nah it all blows up and D-1 football abandons the NCAA. 3 separate leagues will be created with individual media deals. Leagues will includes player contracts, salaries, and the ability to cut players. Transfer window will become the free-agency that it is but only for players not under contract. Enjoy the next 10 years or so. That will be the…[Read more]

My guess is Big 10 will get the Rose Bowl (tradition + power = result). We’d probably get the Fiesta.

I’m going to say . . . game 1. I am really excited for the year to start. I have had a little bit of a bummer year in some respects, and I really need a pick-me-up. I hope the Utes can give me that!
After that, probably Oklahoma State. As a Ute fan living in the Midwest, having the Utes come out here for some games is going to be great. For…[Read more]

DataUte replied to the topic Which away football atmosphere did you enjoy the most? in the forum Football 7 months, 2 weeks ago
Ooh, forgot CSU. We lived in Ft. Collins and my sister brought some friends from Utah (got stuck the night before on I-80 due to closure). It was 20 deg at kickoff, but it was not broadcast and both teams ran the clock so I think it was done in less than 2 hours 30 minutes. Longest stoppage was to tell the knucklehead students to stop throwing…[Read more]

Seriously, though, thanks for all you do.

My boys and I are so excited. I have been playing revamped and 2014 on an old xbox 360 for too long. 🙂

The mention of the Uintas and immediate shift to a peak in the La Sals was absolutely something Walton would have done. His style wasn’t for everyone but it was certainly distinct.

Greg Newman, one of our Sugar Bowl champions, has passed away.
I still remember the unexpected awe I felt as the first quarter of the Sugar Bowl played out. The announcers could barely believe what they were seeing, and I was right there with them. A little later in the game, I remember feeling a little dread, thinking that the Alabama machine…[Read more]

At least it feels good we beat them last year. They definitely have been a better program lately, but still underachieving and nice to have the last W.

Wow, yeah, 4 SEC, 4 B1G would show they really did win in this realignment. Sad Big 12 or ACC #2 wouldn’t be in top 11 at this point. I think the rhetoric will be that SEC and B1G played through a gauntlet where ACC and Big 12 only had a few tough games so a #4 P2 is better than then M2 (middle two?) #2. And then they throw the bone to G5, likely…[Read more]

Smack replied to the topic How do you feel about the hype going into the 2024 season? in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
How do I feel? Short answer: Great!
But I always feel great about the Utes. As some of you know, I never pick against the Utes, and my optimism is nearly boundless. Never give up, never surrender! Haha! 😆
This is going to be a great year! Go UTES!

DataUte replied to the topic Buk m Buk and immigration law thoughts in the forum Misc 9 months ago
Folks always focus on the illegal immigration. If we did give them papers, they would still do similar jobs because that’s the skills they may have. Yes, they would have more rights and protections to avoid being exploited, but that’s where wages would go up for them and be passed on. Just raising wages aren’t going to attract citizens to jobs -…[Read more]
