Forecast is for 100ºF high, which likely will be around game time. Even hotter on the field. Hope we have a strategy to keep the players cool, hydrated, and rotated (lines, WR running routes, etc.). Heat should take a little edge off the hometown crowd unless that stadium has a great water distribution system. Get a little lead and some will bail at half.

I would love to go back to the world where Utah plays USC, Oregon, et al. and your guys are going against Texas and that team south of OKC. But that’s not the current world so I’m happy to watch the Utes go against a bunch of quality teams (mostly) in the central time zone.

    Go Utes!

Go (but not this week) Cowboys!

I agree with what you are saying: old PAC-12 was awesome but the Big XII is a good place to be right now and better than the current (and hypothesized above) PAC-12.

However, the CFB numbers you share don’t really show that they view the current Big XII all that better than the PAC-12. Of the six Big-XII playoff appearances, five belong to…[Read more]

Tua gets $167M guaranteed for injury (but must be forced). But, if he is medically cleared to return and retires, he only gets the $43M he has already been paid unless there is some other settlement.

He needs to get Cam’s knee doctor to never clear him to play, even if he wants to ;).

He needs his mullet back because he’s a grown man!

But really, Ferentz is 26 year tenure and Whitt and Gundy are both 20 years. But I also found out (Aflac trivia question there are only 3 current coaches that have won a natty – Smart, Swinney, and Brown [at Texas, but has been at UNC since ’19]).

Didn’t realize he went from Ravens backup to them holding onto him on the practice squad. That stinks. Made the 53-man roster on Browns, then cut shortly afterward, then Ravens giving him a lifeline. Hope he can play and tear it up in Miami but likely backup to Skylar Thompson (2nd year out of Kansas St.) to learn the plays?

  • AAC would love AFA. They would have all 3 service academies.

  • It all comes down to the ACC breakup. When those GOR are done or they figure out how to break away, it will reset a lot of things and there will be a great reshuffling.

Y’all are all wrong. We’re going to punt it on first down and let the defense score. Scoop and score, pick-6, blocked FG returned for TD. 21-0. 🙂

I do hope to hear Wilson to Singer multiple times, Wilson to Kuithe several times, Wilson to Parks, End-around by Stanley, then when it opens up a little, 3 – 100 yd rushers. Take what they give us.…[Read more]

What a luxury to play 1 half and then basically shut it down. Who cares if we win. No style points are needed this year. Wilson is getting great experience and doesn’t even have to take 1st team reps during practice (which would help in development, but it’s a testament he’s #2 over Rose and Huard, who apparently just aren’t as good or grasping…[Read more]

yeah, the students always squeeze down, sometimes standing on the bleachers and rows and shoulder to shoulder. Fine with me, concentrates the sound, but then you get some open space at the top.

  • Up in the box, both guys on either side had tablets/computers going. As a leader (with a computer brain), he is assimilating information and can ask questions but doesn’t need to query it himself while using the system that has made him a successful coordinator, which he knows is his wheelhouse. He’s no neophyte to technology, he just uses it…[Read more]

Yep, everything Nix threw (and connected on) was mostly short. Nix was like Wilson – you could see the struggle with the increased speed and talent and getting used to a new system and teammates. Broncos have the most Utah players (even without Tim Patrick).

  • I do have to say, the Padre’s new ballpark is beautiful. I haven’t been, but my sister lives in the area and has shared pictures and my wife went with her siblings on a trip.

  • I definitely have watched less and less baseball. I can probably only name <10 stars still around: Aaron Judge, Jose Altuve, Gerrit Cole, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, Ohtani, …? I guess that’s what happens when the hometown team is the Rockies in the 9/10 years they don’t make the playoffs. Going to a game is more about the experience than how the…[Read more]

Anyone catch the USC ‘mascot’ trying to stab his sword into the turf at Allegiant. Pretty funny.

  • Week one has a few ‘top’ games set up, but they mostly turned into busts/blowouts. Wait until week 3. Woof. There are some days that should be spectacular, like Oct 12.
    – Georgia is good, Clemson is not (maybe using the transfer portal is useful to fill gaps?)
    – Ohio St. is good. $20M buys a great team
    – Oregon? um, embarrassing
    – Just have OTA…[Read more]

I grew up in ABQ, so all teams were pretty much adopted from what my dad (rarely) watched. I watched more Saved By the Bell and Star Trek Next Generation than sports. I do remember watching the subway world series when the earthquake hit.

NFL: Dad watched the Cowboys. I (mildly) followed the new Jaguars more since my aunt and uncle gave me a hat…[Read more]
