DataUte replied to the topic We have all the position groups in the NFL covered in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
That’s kind of cool. I would guess most majors have many of the positions, but having a punter, kicker, and returner (which a lot of times is a WR or CB) probably disqualifies most. Esp. with teams only carrying at most 2 kickers, that’s not many spots.

Greetings from Missouri! As always, I will be cheering on the Utes. (As some of you know, I never pick against our guys. Ever.)
I like our chances tonight, and I am still holding out hope that the Bad Moon rises. Someone commented on the full moon being a sign of good things to come. And why not? I think I also saw a Utah Football post about the…[Read more]

DataUte replied to the topic Imagine what it must be like to be in the DB room preparing to play Utah in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
We’re intentionally holding back the playbook until the big games. Like USC. That’ll show them! Once we have a lead, we are unstoppable, so don’t show anything and run the clock out! 🙂 We could score 40 if we wanted, but we just don’t want to ;).

Nah, after Bentley and Brewer, we were going with Nate, Brandon, and Bryson even if Cam didn’t come back (non-injury, going to NFL metaverse).

Extra Medium replied to the topic Update to Utah's B1G Resume in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
We don’t want to be in the B1G. We want to be among the top 24-36 teams that make up the next top tier of D1 college football. Is that conferences? a new league with divisions like the NFL? Who knows but the current conference alignment is not long for this world. It will change.

I mean, Whitt hasn’t been DC in quite a while, so it’s Scalley’s scheme now ;). I’ve felt that you play zone to cover up an individual talent gap but if you have the talent, you play more man on man. I could be wrong. You need some safety support, but a good passer will find the one on one and exploit it and make the defender beat your WR. Against…[Read more]

DataUte replied to the topic In a perfect world, but it ain't perfect. in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
My issue is this: if NJ has been in the program a year, split reps with Barnes in fall camp, then got more reps going into games 2 and 3, with 50/50 for game 4 (with Cam), why is he only at 1/2 of the playbook? Is it because Ludwig’s playbook is that large? Seems like he’d be further along, can’t get it down, or has some limitations the coaches…[Read more]

And like that, just like rookie year, he started the season on the practice squad (and can only be pulled up for games 3 times) and is now signed to the active roster for the season (full 2nd year minimum salary rather than weekly practice squad pay). Tough that he has to keep proving himself, but he is a luxury to have as a returner taking a…[Read more]

Expand on this: “no one has left the PAC-12 yet…outside of USC and UCLA” – what do you mean?
CU has been given the letter saying they have no vote. And with the acceptance into Big 10 (UO, UW) and Big 12 (UA, ASU, Utah), are you saying they ‘haven’t left’ just because they are playing this year in the PAC12 and not officially in the new c…[Read more]

DataUte replied to the topic Utah's QB dilemma in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Well, the last 2 years, Cam has hurt his knee in the Rose Bowl. 1st time, he played 14 games before injury. Last year, he came back game 4 so was good for 11 games. So, maybe we only have 8 games out of this knee, so we have to choose wisely. That would be waiting for USC after the BYE and he’d make it into the bowl game … and this is his last…[Read more]

UCLA had speed so getting around the edge was hard, but what if, what if, we actually pulled a guard or tackle to block on an outside run?! Or throw a screen if the defense is over-pursuing?!

All 22 points by Utes on Sunday (Moss with a receiving TD to add to 122 yards), Gay with XP and 5 FG including the game winner and 4 were 50+ yds!

DataUte replied to the topic Utah's QB dilemma in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Agree – l-loss and there is little room for error. I’m guessing a 1-loss team and a 2-loss team (with tie-breakers) will be in the CCG. No one is getting out of conference play unscathed, but we have @USC, Ore, @UW coming up and going to be hard to win all of those (if any if we can’t improve on our current offense). Beating OSU would keep some…[Read more]

Milton Vanderslice replied to the topic Where Do We Think Utah Will End Up in the AP This Week? in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
I don’t think ‘Bama jumps us because I think a win over UCLA > Ole Miss. However that doesn’t matter too much. We just need to keep winning and everything will fall into place. (it does feel good to be in the top 10 though)

Milton Vanderslice replied to the topic Thoughts on the zebras in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
The delay of game penalty on the defense was a solid call since it appeared that they were calling out signals that made our lineman react.
The targeting call was the right call, I think we were fortunate that they didn’t tack on a late hit call on the play also. The late hit call would have been close and arguably the wrong call, but it could…[Read more]
