But that’s not fun! 😉 Reminds me of Washington Redskins FC finding a new name. I like Blizzard (go with Avalanche in the west) or Yeti. Outlaws ok. Venom and Mammoth are bleh (and Mammoth is the Colorado Lacrosse team, not that it matters). Of course they will rebrand after everyone has bought UHC gear so they can sell the all new kits.

Agree. I think he has a couple options and he has the right to make the choice:
    – medically retire. Welcome back to the U as a GA or any other endeavor he chooses
    – transfer to another school and they figure out the NIL worth and he makes money to continue the dream. one year rental and good luck (but as others have stated, maybe he goes to a…[Read more]

  • This was the argument IF he played this year. But he is now eligible for another medical redshirt, so he would get another year based on that (not this other legal stuff which was mostly a maybe). He’d be like the Miami player that is in his 8th year (due to 3 season ending injuries while not playing enough for the year to be ‘booked’).

  • DataUte replied to the topic QB2? in the forum Football 1 month ago

Huard has said he is the best practice squad qb in the nation (a little in jest) – he knows his role and I hope he gets a chance.

  • And it’s not like we see anything that surprises us. Stanley is in it’s 1 of 2 plays. Mitchell is in, it’s a run up the middle.

Last year was similar. Anytime Nate Johnson came in, the entire defense knew it was a run.

Last night rising had time to throw. I feel much better protection that what Wilson has had which is a positive sign maybe…[Read more]

  • Where I’m at a loss with Ludwig’s “complex offense” is 1. If it’s so complex, how is it always so predictable. And 2. I don’t understand how we have the excuse that it’s so complex so the QB’s can’t learn it fast enough. How is it that teams like Oregon, USC, Ohio state, Oklahoma, even can say Vanderbilt or ASU along with several other sch…[Read more]

  • I feel like the defense has been a little more disappointing than the offense. With change of QB on offense, opposing defenses have made it harder and forced Isaac to beat them and he’s just not quite there yet. However, our TOP is pretty good, so the defense should be fresh and flying around the field.

  • Cam Rising was seen yesterday signing autographs wearing a splint on two fingers. I’m no doctor, but if truly was just a ‘laceration’ why would he need to wear a splint?

It wasn’t really timed for damage. More like, I’m playing well, give me more money or the timing coincides with me being able to redshirt (he has a degree) and play another year somewhere else for more $.

  • QB2s shouldn’t redshirt, even if Freshman. He’s played in 12 full quarters + 2 partials (end of 2Q). Cam has played 2 full quarters and 2 partial quarters (most of 2 2Q). We need them both. Rose apparently must be slow if he can’t pick up the playbook in 2 years. Huard is new, so he gets a pass as he claims to be the best practice team qb in the nation.

  • I’m not the person that you asked but if you are interested in my perspective on the topic:

As a Utahn that grew up in the 80s-90s, there was a lot of arrogance directed at me for being a Utes fan when most of my classmates were cheering for BYU. Whatever, but when the rivalry started to shift to equality (and later Utah dominance), those same…[Read more]

  • DataUte replied to the topic Jerome Myles to USC in the forum Football 1 month, 4 weeks ago

My point was what were his numbers at USC after what he did at Arizona?

Plus, we have played 1/4 of the season, with our starting QB playing 1/4-1/3 of that. Wilson has played 8+ quarters, so passing has not been so hot so far.

  • DataUte replied to the topic Jerome Myles to USC in the forum Football 1 month, 4 weeks ago

You’ll love it when he’s here in 2 years after seeing Isaac tear it up next year and being disenchanted with the USC alure and not being used well (see Dorian Singer).

  • See him in 2 years when he’s unhappy with playing time and he sees Isaac tearing it up.

  • To be honest, I feel like these are 2 really similar teams. Both led by 20-year coaches that sometimes let their hair go long.

I don’t like OSU because they always say THE OSU. Oh, wait, this is the other one. I’ve followed Big 12 for 16 years since I was in grad school and OSU has always been solid, similar to Utah. Usually in the top third,…[Read more]

  • DataUte replied to the topic Game-time weather in the forum Football 1 month, 4 weeks ago

I’ve lived in 100 degree heat, both humid and dry. I didn’t stay outside that long very often. It took resting through tv timeouts, quarters, halftime to raise the extra effort to keep cheering loudly. Not saying it can’t be done, but if we can get an edge and take some hope out of the hometown fans, that could help. Great stadium, great team,…[Read more]

Forecast is for 100ÂșF high, which likely will be around game time. Even hotter on the field. Hope we have a strategy to keep the players cool, hydrated, and rotated (lines, WR running routes, etc.). Heat should take a little edge off the hometown crowd unless that stadium has a great water distribution system. Get a little lead and some will bail at half.

I would love to go back to the world where Utah plays USC, Oregon, et al. and your guys are going against Texas and that team south of OKC. But that’s not the current world so I’m happy to watch the Utes go against a bunch of quality teams (mostly) in the central time zone.

    Go Utes!

Go (but not this week) Cowboys!

I agree with what you are saying: old PAC-12 was awesome but the Big XII is a good place to be right now and better than the current (and hypothesized above) PAC-12.

However, the CFB numbers you share don’t really show that they view the current Big XII all that better than the PAC-12. Of the six Big-XII playoff appearances, five belong to…[Read more]
