DataUte replied to the topic 2024 College Football Week 13 Pick Em Contest RESULTS in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago
T-2 at 8-4. My best week ever I think! And I have no memory of who I picked. For the season I’m 56%, so only slightly above literal pick ’em.

You earn a ton of points with teammates and coaches for doing the dirty work. He’s already loved, but doing your job even without the stats is a mark of a competitor.

DataUte replied to the topic RB/running is the key to a Whitt team, so why so much NIL for QBs? in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago
In addition to some workhorse RBs, I’d position that it’s better to pay a little less and get 3 medium/3-star backs but pay money to OL. Some systems can plug and play decent RBs with a great line rather than having to have a good line with an outstanding RB (which are in high demand and have to stay healthy).
If you build from the trenches out,…[Read more]

While an agree, I feel Calhoun is always being targeted in the big moments. But has the potential. Where Vaughn I cringe

Kinda feel like there hasn’t been anything about this guy posted. Anyone else notice he’s always at that “right place right time” but also “just missed that interception” I feel like he’s gunna be a big time player

I don’t know what the contract is but the rumors were that the Sparks were willing to pay to to $2 million per year.

DataUte replied to the topic There is a real chance the Big 12 misses the playoff in the forum Football 2 months ago
Not big enough. Do we really want:
– Army or Tulane
– Miami or SMU
– BYU or CU
– Oregon
– Jacksonville State
– ND?
– Miami (OH)
– Boise St
– Washington St?
– Texas
– Marshall
and 1 at-large (maybe two if PAC-2 doesn’t count) from above + Ohio St., Penn St., Indiana, UGA, Bama, Tenn, Ole Miss, TAMUThat’s why 1 from the G5 is likely enough. Rare…[Read more]

Exactly what Miami said.
Going to coach in the pros, gets a hefty raise, no longer has to recruit/deal with NIL, and gets to go home to California. A no-brainer for the coach.
The new coach, Gavin Peterson, has been an assistant at the University for all of Roberts’ time here and he has been the Associate Head Coach for five (going on six…[Read more]

I would say the committee sees the Big 12 and ACC as MWC/AAC +1 loss. In other words, an 12-1 or 11-2 champ in Big 12 and ACC is equivalent to a 13-0 or 12-1 MWC/AAC champ. The loss for MWC/AAC has to be to someone good, while there is a little more forgiveness for Big12/ACC. Look at Miami or SMU – it’s clear whoever wins the champ will be either…[Read more]

DataUte replied to the topic After 20 years of success, this is Whit's first failure of a season in the forum Football 2 months ago
Bowl games (non playoff) are now trash. A quarter (at least) of most teams are in the portal, declare for the draft, or opt out. I just told someone it’s stupid to bet on bowl games at all because you don’t know who will actually be playing.
It was nice to have the 8-1 bowl record under Whit or whatever it was, but that was the old regime of…[Read more]

DataUte replied to the topic Why I think Whitt will be back for one more year in the forum Football 2 months ago
If so, what is the ‘walk into the sunset’ year next year? 8-5 with a bowl win? CCG? Until his contract is up, what’s not for him to say, “ooh, we were really close and we have a couple more pieces to …”?

Calhoun had the ball in his hands in that last 2 minutes of the y game and probably would have had it. And won the game. Ugh

I think every team should study how they are doing it at Pitt. You get possibilities (maybe some baseline assurance) but not paid until the end of the season. At least that’s how I understand it. Keeps you hungry. Not totally incentive based, but does ensure those that should contribute, contribute and surprises get a piece as well.

DataUte replied to the topic New to Utehub and hopeful vs Colorado in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago
I am hopeful because of our D. But Shadeur escapes the pocket on basically every play (he didn’t play last year – Hunter still had >100 yds receiving). Agree that our hope is for TOs.
Last year, Bottari was 6/10 for 61 yds. Glover had 107 rushing (gone), Vaki 68 (gone), Jackson 68 (gone), Money 18 (out). If Wilson is out (injury? mono?), the…[Read more]

holy crap, we can’t have, get, keep any qb healthy. So crazy, all you can do is cry. Hopefully he didn’t get mono from a cougar (and I’m not talking about the parochial school).

DataUte replied to the topic Everyone Needs To Calm Down in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago
I think it was Saban that was saying it is really hard to find OL now. With so many skill position camps, players are getting trained on that, so you have to recruit someone by their frame (and for him, they had to play basketball) and then you had to get them in, put 40-50 pounds on them and see how they handle it. So it was a little bit of a…[Read more]

Explains why all the sudden Rose’s good runs disappeared and he didn’t even try. Those were eating up some significant yards.
