I hate to say it, but if Glover hasn’t put it together yet, he’s probably not putting it together.

I like your concept. Getting to a 24 team conference at this point generally makes sense (even though it’s also preposterous). But I’ll be a bit nipicky, if the ACC falls apart they’ll take UNC and UVA (or VA Tech, Louisville, Pitt, Duke, Ga Tech) over Oregon State and Wazzu.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Seeing talk about FSU and Clemson being courted by the Big 12. in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Well, you may be right. But here’s a reason why I think you may be wrong. They may legally find a way out of the GOR (which runs through 2036) and figure we have our out now, let’s take it before lawyers for the ACC find some way to close that opportunity. The Big-12 would provide a landing spot for them for the next few years. Come 2030 they…[Read more]

AlohaUte replied to the topic Seeing talk about FSU and Clemson being courted by the Big 12. in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
The only way it happens is if the following three things happen:
1. They successfully get put of the ACC before 2036
2. The B1G holds strong to their desire that any new additions need to be AAU and therefore refuse FSU and Clemson.
3. The SEC decides that they don’t add value because they already have teams in Florida and SC.
If those three…[Read more]

I’m totally fine with one as a warm up game to start the season.

Well it’s not a more valid claim and it’s stupid to denigrate theirs but not ours. That’s zoob behavior. But you are right that we should claim it and be recognized as co-champs. Two recognized selectors that year put Utah #1 and the NCAA recognizes it. So should we.

I still think the SEC, in order to strategically compete with the Big-10 and draw a more national audience may seriously consider expanding West and Central. Perhaps considering grabbing schools like ASU, UA, CU, Utah, Kansas, or maybe even SDSU to get into California.
Also, don’t be shocked if Texas A&M ends up in the B1G. I’ve heard rumors…[Read more]

Agree and disagree. I suggest that we aren’t sleeping but we also aren’t a giant. There is still room for growth and cementing is as a power. We aren’t there yet.

ASU make the most sense, but we’ve all been saying it for decades and it hasn’t happened.
I’ll be the Homer and say Utah. We have the continuity, culture, and are an extremely well run university in one of the 3 most well run states. On top of that, I’d argue that Utah HS sports may only be 2nd to California in talent being produced out west.

For sure. The only way a super league hairband that doesn’t include, say, Vandy or Indiana, is of the posts in B1G and SEC leave their corns and create a new entity.

Well, I did address what you are saying in my last paragraph. Hence why we absolutely couldn’t turn down an invite should it come.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Question: Would Jay Hill take the USU job? in the forum Football 4 months ago
If what they ate doing in basketball translate to football, then BYU will definitely spend in nil for football. The question is does the board of trustees and Ryan Smith think it’s worth all that for football and their 85 players or do they want byu to be a basketball school and pay more for their 12-16 players?

AlohaUte replied to the topic College Football Addiction's TJ Pittinger on Utah to the B1G in the forum Football 4 months ago
I definitely wouldn’t turn down an invite to the B1G or SEC, but there’s an argument to be made that e could be way better if in the 12 is we are able to consistently win the conference, make the playoff and build the brand. The big negative to going to the other two is that we’ll be directly competing with all the blue bloods and have a much…[Read more]

I think the media got it right, not necessarily with where the ranking is end of season. But what it should be today and knowing what we know.
It’s kinda astounding that ASU is where it is as a program. They are almost the anti-Utah, a school that just can’t gets its act together athletically.
The two most intriguing to me are Colorado and…[Read more]
