AlohaUte replied to the topic Utah offers Hans Olsen's son in the forum Football 8 months, 1 week ago
Everything I’ve heard is that the kid is a big Ute fan and Hans would prefer him at the U. That’s all just pontification from internet guy, but it’s what I’ve heard. The folks on Cougarboard are convinced that he’s not going to land at BYU and will end up at the U as it’s the kid’s dream school.
Yes, Hans now works for BYU, but that’s pretty new…[Read more]

Bro Hymn by Pennywise
The opening of Blind by Korn.

Wut? You stopped liking the Padres because the Chargers sold out and moved to LA? or do you think Padres also sold out and moved to LA?

I’m with you on pump up intro song and lighting, but definitely not Seven Nation Army. Great song, but so over done by every school everywhere. We can find something more unique. Like maybe the opening to the sing Blind by Korn or Bro Hymn by Pennywise.

AlohaUte replied to the topic B12 considering private equity investment of up to $1B in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m 100% against this. Private equity are a bunch of snakes who squeeze every last dime out of anything they touch. Sure, they can make companies more profitable, but most of that profit goes right into their pockets.

I pretty meh on the Braves now. I’m a die hard Giants fan with the Padres being my #2 and the Orioles are my AL team (but I’ll adopt the Salt Lake team as my AL team when that eventually happens – but I’ll always be Giants #1).
That said, I have no ill will towards the Braves whatsoever. (unlike the Dodgers that I hope die a slow and painful death).

AlohaUte replied to the topic Which game are you most looking forward to this fall and why? in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
Agree completely. It’s strange how Big-12 fans are so butt hurt over this simple emotion that we Ute fans feel.
Even BYU fans would be more excited playing Oregon, Washington and USC than they are playing Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Kansas.

As a kid (when I lived in Utah pre-teenage years:
NFL: Redskins & Dolphins
MLB: Braves (Thanks TBS!)
NBA: Jazz
CFB/CBB: UtesThose latter two are still in place, though I’m pretty meh on the NBA.

Hating on Lincoln Riley will forever bind us as fanbases. He abandoned you, we punished him for it. Go and dominate the SEC! I’ll be cheering for you

I’m going to predict that one of our RBs is going to break out and grab hold of the RB1 role and be the breakout player / offensive player of the year.

Notre Dame was awesome. Just wish the team showed up that day. But nothing I’ve been to compares to that.

For me, the Holy War will always be my #1, but aside from that, I’m looking forward to @ Oklahoma State. I think this is our toughest game of the season. I also super respect their program.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Is BYU the new Kentucky? in the forum Basketball (Men) 8 months, 3 weeks ago
I don’t know why we have to minimize others aims so much. They had a great season last season and now have to rebuild after losing their coach. The point isn’t that they’ll be great now, it’s that they are changing their paradigm in an effort to become a basketball power. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. The certainly they have more of a…[Read more]

It’s because of the new coach and their commitment to him. Also, most is probably driven by Ryan Smith.
I also suspect that the AD and leadership realize that BYU has a higher likelihood of success with basketball than football, so why not invest in it.
Good for them.

This site is soooo different from pre-death UF.N, it’s not even in the same ballpark. UFN became a cesspool of progressive politics and anti-mormonism before it’s demise, it was the worst site on the internet. This site is super civil and friendly and you do a great job minimizing trolling.
We users need to do more to get our friends on here and…[Read more]
