AlohaUte replied to the topic How Much Credence is There to This? in the forum Professional Sports 1 year ago
I think Utah has a great shot at landing an MLB team and I’d be thrilled if they did. From all accounts they are one of the front runners for an expansion MLB team. The Wasatch front definitely has the population to support at least one more professional team and while I don’t live there, if they did get an MLB team, I’d likely get a partial…[Read more]

So to you, Ohio State and Utah are comparable programs with comparable reputations?

AlohaUte replied to the topic Harbaugh to the NFL – Chargers in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Utah was at Wyoming level when he joined the team in the 1990’s. Let’s not act like Utah was anything remotely special prior to Urban getting here. We have a top-10 coach in the game and we have idiot fans who aren’t happy about it and think he’s meh. If Whit had Michigan’s roster, he’d likely with the B1G most years.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Harbaugh to the NFL – Chargers in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
You realize that he coaches Utah right? Not Michigan, not Bama, not USC. He’s definitely won big and built a middling school on the level of Wyoming to a nationally respected top-20 program. You are wildly underselling him.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Will I need ESPN+ for Utah football and what’s the best route to get it? in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Either just subscribe to it directly or if you already pay for Disney+ or Hulu. Just do the bundle. The bundle is easily the best value option. I, for one, am happy that we’ll have games regularly on ESPN or ESPN+.

The direction the program is taking? So improving and becoming a competitive team is an unappealing direction? You’d prefer them to stay in cellar and suck then?

AlohaUte replied to the topic ESPN has the Utes as #13 Going into Next Season in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
I think you are vastly understating the value of Vaki and how much he brought to this team. You also forgot the impact of losing Ellis. He was a monster this season and his production won’t be easy to replace. I’d say that Ellis, Vaki, and Bishop are difficult losses to overcome. We will be fine, I agree with your overall sentiment, but I don’t…[Read more]

I’d say Utah, Arizona, and Oklahoma State as of right now are the strengths of the Big-12 next season. I think Kansas State, Kansas, Texas Tech, TCU, and Colorado are the next tier.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Not trying to stir up trouble but I've got a question about Utah NIL deals. in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago
Being wrong /= lying. Most people when they are in the prime of their life physically think they will heal faster and feel like they are fully good to go before they are. Doesn’t mean he was lying. Stop being so cynical.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Faletau Satuala in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
I’m less and less concerned about High School recruiting because of the Transfer Portal. It’s still got some importance, but not near as much as it used to. I still want us to get top recruits and keep them and develop them, but when we can augment with experienced players, there’s an argument to be made that we should put more focus on the portal.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Now I understand why Barnes is Transferring in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Wait, there were people that didn’t understand why he was transferring when he announced it? It made perfect sense when he announced. He’s not going to be the starter next year, he’s not going to be the back up next year, so why stick around? He’s proven he’s good enough to play somewhere so if he’s not going play here, then he should transfer.

AlohaUte replied to the topic No there is 3 left in to 2025 QB room in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Just read the Deseret News article on the QB room, sounds like it’s a possibility that Bottari returns, so he gives us some emergency depth. They also mentioned Steve Smedley, anyone know anything about him? Is he a scholarship QB or a walk on? Is he viable to develop into a backup?

AlohaUte replied to the topic Dante Moore (UCLA) and DJU to the Transfer Portal in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
And those quality ones will be looking for (1) money and (2) starting QB next season. Rising is likely taking up most of the money allocate from NIL for a QB and he’s got the starting spot locked down. The best we are going to get in the portal is likely a solid QB who would start for a G-5 team perhaps, but not really a star that can lead a team…[Read more]

AlohaUte replied to the topic I'm not sure why people are so hard on ludwig concerning QB development in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
I’m inclined to agree with you. Fans often times are irrational, they seem to forget that we had a dynamic, top rated offense just last season.

Why is this shocking? The Deseret News has been publishing great Ute content for years. If you didn’t know this, you’ve missed out.

AlohaUte replied to the topic I'm really enjoying this season in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
The key is acceptance. The first 4 or 5 games were frustrating, despite the wins. But once I accepted this team for what it was and took into account the ridiculous amount of injuries, the stress went away.
Note though, that this is not the most fun season. I enjoyed the last two years much more, despite the stress. But it’s nice to not be…[Read more]
