I don’t disagree with your whole post, much I do agree with. But take a chill pill, we’ve had one bad year in 20. It shocks me how quickly Ute fans became like Ohio State fans.

I hate this argument so much. You act like the kids were slaves and got nothing out of it. I would have loved to have had free tuition, room and board, meals, prioritized housing, paid for tutoring, etc. Players who played at Duke or Stanford or any private school (and heck many top public schools now) made well over 100K to play football in just…[Read more]

This is the constant, I guess, shame or dilemma of sports. I mean Juan Soto just got $750m to play baseball. How perverse is that? Sports are important to our culture and society and they play a healthy role as a stress outlet for us. So they are not meaningless, but it is perverse that people are paid so much to do it. But that’s market…[Read more]

I’m sure it helps that we have his coach and they seemed to succeed from each other, but we’ll still need to offer some major NIL money, especially if the demand for him is such as it seems to be. We are not guaranteed to get him by any means.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Idea to fix this mess. Multi-year contracts. in the forum Football 1 month ago
That’s what it eventually will be, but it’s not possible right now because the players have no power or say. The courts will never enforce such contracts (hence why the restrictions on transferring were killed by the courts) because the players are not represented or “fairly compensated”. So the only way for that to happen is that the players…[Read more]

This is modern CFB. It sucks. We needs a few billionaire funders.

Essentially you need to give the players the power to collectively bargain, i.e. a players union.
Right now e are in the wild west. It’s only going to be this way for a short time. Sometime soon players will be paid employees and will need to sign contracts.

AlohaUte replied to the topic On BYU and NIL. Updates with the AJ Dybantsa news and some specific information in the forum They So Poo Poo 1 month ago
This is an unhinged comment. You think this is the most egregious and first major pay-to-play recruit? What world have you been living in for then last 3-4 years?

As long as it’s not Church money being used at BYU – and it’s not – then more power to them. Rumor has it that there are multiple billionaires supporting BYU basketball. There’s nothing hypocritical about it whether from the Church or from BYU.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Who is going to run the ball for us next year? in the forum Football 1 month ago
Someone who is not in the program yet. I’m sure we’ll add at least two RBs from the portal.

AlohaUte replied to the topic A healthy Cam Rising would be a perfect fit for Beck's offense in the forum Football 1 month ago
Key word there is “healthy”. I’m not sure his horrific knee injury can be recovered from enough to be a peak FBS college football QB.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Isaac Wilson to BYU? in the forum Football 1 month ago
Also, I saw enough raw talent, particularly arm strength, from Isaac to see his potential in CFB. He can be a great QB but is soooo raw. I could see him getting picked up from multiple P5 schools.
I do think that if Utah wanted him back (and who knows if he entered the portal on his own volition or if Beck asked him to leave), his best place…[Read more]

Meh, don’t really care what he does. Pretty decent chance he’ll be a cancer whereever he lands. Reminds me a lot of Tuttle.

What a weird opinion to have about Whit. He’s been successful for 20 years and you just think he’s all the sudden a complete failure and incapable of reviving the program? Strange.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Our QB and RB rooms are empty in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
It’s fine with me, clearly we didn’t have much talent and I suspect the new OC is cleaning house.
Fortunately, this is the perfect year for this to happen considering this age of free agency that we are in. Beck will be able to bring in players that fit his system.
We’ll be just fine.

AlohaUte replied to the topic What's your playoff prediction? in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Yeah, honestly, I expect that too. We’ll see if the committee has any integrity or if they are corrupt.
-
AlohaUte replied to the topic What's your playoff prediction? in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
I thought about that, but I don’t think the committee will put the team that won today ahead of the team that lost.
