I’m not sure I understand your rant. Colorado has a top-25 team who choked. Utah is straight abysmal and after, what, 8, 10 years as the head coach I and many of us expect the Utes to be a stable and highly competitive program. I don’t expect them to be Duke or Kentucky or anything of the sort, but I do expect stability. I expect a team that…[Read more]

AlohaUte replied to the topic Preseason FPI Rankings. Utes #24. Not all gloom and doom. in the forum Football 4 years, 8 months ago
First you mean delude. We aren’t diluting anything.
Second, you do realize we can both be right. The loss wasn’t all on Huntley at all. It was on the O-Line getting lit up and the D-Line getting dominated. Football is won in the trenches. However, Huntley when scrambling was looking down and for running lanes as opposed to keeping his eyes…[Read more]

I’m just thrilled we were included on the list. The program Whitt is building is pretty cool.

Well, I wish Tyler Huntley were listed, but beyond that, that’s pretty impressive! It’s a shame how the season ended, but this was still an all time great Ute team and appreciate all of them.

To be fair to Pace, this post was not him complaining and you complaining about him here really isn’t necessary.

Here’s the thing, considering how long he’s been at the U, he should have a better and more stable program than he has. Something isn’t working. I willing to give him next season to see if these recruiting classes gel. But if the Utes don’t make the tourney in 20-21 season, he needs to go.

AlohaUte replied to the topic We may not have a top-10 recruiting class in the forum Football 4 years, 10 months ago
Yup, this. I want us to stockpile great O-line like we do D-Line. Championships are won in the trenches. As evidenced by the Pac12 CG.

AlohaUte replied to the topic is this good ranking for us? in the forum Football 4 years, 10 months ago
Hmmm, I would have liked to have seen that average increase a bit more over the years. I would especially expect a bit more a jump after the season we had this year. Hopefully if we can string together consistent contention for the Pac-12 Championship we will see those numbers increase.

should dominate the Pac-12 for a long time. They are clearly going to be 1-2 slugging it out in the North.
Meanwhile the South looks completely up for grabs. ASU and USC seem to be doing the best in recruiting with UCLA a step behind. Utah is a crap shoot due to the unknowns of RMs and transfers. The long and short of it, I think Arizona and…[Read more] -

No, no, we get your argument, we just think it’s stupid. If Utah is 98th in mid February then I’ll share your concern. But at this point your constant complaining about it reflects poorly on you especially in the middle of what Utah is doing now…with recruits that you clearly think aren’t worthy.

Well, I’d argue that Oregon, Clemson, and Michigan State were all not historical or national powers when they made it on the first time. In fact I’d throw Georgia and maybe Washington in there too. That being said, Utah would be the most out of left field.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Next year's team in the forum Football 4 years, 11 months ago
I don’t know that I’ve heard any Ute fan predict that Utah will lose to BYU next season, as much as, if it is going to happen, next year is the most likely. If they don’t get it next year, it could be a while.

AlohaUte replied to the topic CFP Rankings – Utah #5 OK #6 Baylor #7 Oregon#13 in the forum Football 4 years, 11 months ago
I think it comes down to our dominant defense. I think that is the differentiator. They’ve seen Utah dominate since USC, our defense is right there with OSU and Clemson’s. If we give up 30 points, I think we are in trouble, if we keep Oregon below 20 and win by 10+, I think we are in the playoff (assuming the top-3 all win).

Both teams should be wearing home colors. The Red v Green would be awesome.

It should, but our primary competition – Oklahoma – also played 9 conference games.

Good, let’s hope this is the seed of real rivalry between the schools. The sooner we can embrace Colorado, the better off we’ll be. The rivalry with BYU is fading, they are closer to Utah State than us. Rivalry is the spice of CFB life and Colorado should be our main rival.
