AlohaUte replied to the topic Scored too soon in the forum Football 3 years, 1 month ago
Pretty amazing for Barnes and an awesome story! Kyle mentioned in his press conference that he didn’t want to get too strategic for Barnes due to his inexperience and alluded to the idea that had Rising been in they would have slowed it down and tried to score in the last minute. I actually barely celebrated that touchdown at all. In the stands…[Read more]

AlohaUte started the topic Anyone know why it was Barnes rather than JQJ? in the forum Football 3 years, 1 month ago
First loved the game and worth every cent being there in person. It was Rice-Eccles in Pasadena. Lots to be proud of, definite mistakes and frustration in the game.
I’m curious though, why it was Barnes and not JQJ? Is JQJ just not that good or prepared? -

Trying to plan our day tomorrow. Just wondering what you are up to? We are thinking La Brea tar pits and maybe a museum. But not sure.

AlohaUte replied to the topic the RONA in the forum Misc 3 years, 2 months ago
So I understand your point but the problem I see is that the vaccine, masks, and isolation are the only remedies prescribed by the government (and for some reason everyone went crazy and started to trust the government without questioning all the sudden) when there are many other options and recommendations that health researchers and scientists…[Read more]

I think the problem we are seeing, and I think you’d find the same, is that much science around Covid is being ignored. The only solutions offered by the CDC are the vaccine and masks. There is no guidance or recommendations around things we could be doing beyond that to protect ourselves, early / non-hospitalization treatments, etc.
Extensive…[Read more]

AlohaUte replied to the topic Time for ESPN & College Football to do something… in the forum Football 3 years, 2 months ago
Conveniently ignoring the fact that these 30K cases are largely little worse than the common cold. Why do we care about how many people get it if it is minor illness. We don’t cancel games because of the cold or the flu, so why are we over Omicron?

What events are there before the game in Pasadena on Saturday (or Friday)? Anything we should do to get the full experience?

AlohaUte replied to the topic Can we let Whitt enjoy the moment? in the forum Football 3 years, 2 months ago
There are two things I hate about this board 1) Too many posts about BYU / Cougarboard. 2) complaining about local media. The latter is completely irrational and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of what the media’s job is.
Otherwise, this board is awesome.

AlohaUte replied to the topic Utah WRs – system vs talent in the forum Football 3 years, 2 months ago
All season I thought about it being kind of equal between the system and receivers. I noticed that for the most part the receivers didn’t get great separation, but at the same time, Vele seemed to show that if you could get open you’d get balls thrown your way. He seemed to be the guy that could get separation.
But there is definitely something…[Read more]

Maybe they’ll announce that. I’d be happy to wear whatever color they want us to wear.

AlohaUte replied to the topic 2022 Utah Football Schedule Released in the forum Football 3 years, 2 months ago
Doesn’t look terrible. Only back to back road games to end the season, bit of a tough stretch there mid season with 5 or 6 straight bowl teams. I like going on the road after a bye. @Florida is going to be fun. I sure hope I can make it out Gainesville. I may have to schedule a business trip with my Florida client in the days preceding that game.

AlohaUte replied to the topic While I don’t much care about recruiting rankings in the forum Football 3 years, 2 months ago
With the transfer portal, these rankings will.mean less than ever. Still huge for the top teams, but everyone else doesn’t really matter. I am not worried in the least about the Utes in coming seasons.
