Honestly, she was a no brainer choice for the Supreme Court. She’s perfect for it. She’s incredibly intelligence, fair, moderate, etc. The only real controversy about her nomination is the way the GOP did it. But anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty cant with a straight face say she’s not worthy or qualified to be a Supreme Court justice.…[Read more]

Not only has it been a fantastic world series to this point, tonight’s game was one of the best sporting events I’ve ever witnessed.

I’m not excusing it. Corrections need to be made, improvements implemented, people punished, and the school face consequences as well.
By the way, I was trying in my post to respond to am different comment but it put it in line with the op, so maybe if my comment were where I intended it it would have been interpreted differently.

Of course the U screwed up, no one is debating that. But this phrase is just stupid: “to ensure her safety”. What kind of ignorant and naïve statement is that? No can 100% ensure one’s safety. The U has 30K+ people on their campus. There’s going to be crime, there’s going to be bad things that happen. There are going to be screw ups, failures,…[Read more]

Dude, stuff happens. Bad things happen. Sometimes at the U sometimes elsewhere. You can’t prevent that. That’s not to say the U didn’t screw up, that’s not to say individuals didn’t do bad and stupid things. But it is what it is. Welcome to living on earth.

It’s only difficult if you are not on one of the two best teams. NBA is the predictable of all professional sports championships.

Presidents like Obama and Trump – both highly underqualified – but effective media manipulators
I’m glad I’m not the only one that sees this. Obama was arguably the least qualified President ever. He wasn’t a terrible President, he was average I guess, but he had no business being elected President. Also, I agree that Trump too was wholly unq…[Read more]

I agree it’s better overall, but I’m really torn. On the one hand we would have such better leadership and be in a better position if we used the electoral college as it was designed. I.e. we choose/vote for electors and they then vote for President. One of the major problems with democracy is that most people are too ignorant to make good…[Read more]

Face it: Most (not all, but most) of the conferences who pushed forward this fall are full of truck driving schools. They haven’t had a good understanding of the virus and they still don’t.
Right, this sentence right here tells us where you stand. You can go ahead and say “I don’t know who’s right and who’s wrong”, but clearly your mind is mad…[Read more]

AlohaUte replied to the topic What now for Big Ten, Pac-12 fans? A how-to guide for picking your new team in the forum Football 4 years, 5 months ago
Well, I’ve already got my teams decided from the other P5’s that I’ll mull over:
SEC: Tennessee <- my least objectionable of all SEC teams (aside from Vandy, but who hates Vandy?)
ACC: Virginia <- Love me some Thomas Jefferson
Big-12: Oklahoma State <- Hates Oklahoma, is good enough to compete, and is often a thorn in Texas’ side. -

I still am hoping it will, but it’s looking less likely. We’ll seem, but I’m far less optimistic.

Well you could easily and safely allow 25% capacity, spread out the folks with empty rows and seats in between (and I don’t mean everyone is every other seat, rather groups (like a family) can sit together but apart from other groups, and require that everyone must wear a mask. If you get caught without a mask, you get a single warning, a 2nd…[Read more]

AlohaUte replied to the topic So how is this going to work… in the forum Football 4 years, 5 months ago
That’s true, but if most Universities go to on-line / remote only then the safest place for the players to be would be on campus as no one else will there. It will be interesting to see if the U sticks with the hybrid or goes to almost all on-line. I’m going to be teaching a course there this next semester and my course is 100% online.

AlohaUte replied to the topic So how is this going to work… in the forum Football 4 years, 5 months ago
I almost guarantee Football will be played in the fall. There is simply too much money, and as a result too many Universities that absolutely rely on the money from Football. I could see DivII and lower and maybe FCS cancelling, but I’d be shocked if FBS cancels, especially the P-5’s. You think the University of Alabama could survive without…[Read more]

Probably not a popular opinion here, but I’m super bummed about losing the BYU game. That sucks. I’m even more ticked about losing the @Wyoming game as I’ve never seen a game in Laramie and was hoping to make the trek out there to see it.
