I don’t know that I’ve heard any Ute fan predict that Utah will lose to BYU next season, as much as, if it is going to happen, next year is the most likely. If they don’t get it next year, it could be a while.

I think it comes down to our dominant defense. I think that is the differentiator. They’ve seen Utah dominate since USC, our defense is right there with OSU and Clemson’s. If we give up 30 points, I think we are in trouble, if we keep Oregon below 20 and win by 10+, I think we are in the playoff (assuming the top-3 all win).

Those are my absolute favorite road Unis. Looks sharp.

Both teams should be wearing home colors. The Red v Green would be awesome.

It should, but our primary competition – Oklahoma – also played 9 conference games.

Good, let’s hope this is the seed of real rivalry between the schools. The sooner we can embrace Colorado, the better off we’ll be. The rivalry with BYU is fading, they are closer to Utah State than us. Rivalry is the spice of CFB life and Colorado should be our main rival.

This isn’t what matters though. What matters is Tuesday night with the Committee. I’m a little nervous.

Now let’s have Ok State win and so long as our Utes take care of business, we are in a good position.

What? Really? What kind of insanity is that? You think Ohio State, Bama, Oklahoma, etc get tired of playoff talk? The one time Utah is in the conversation and has a legitimate chance and many of you are negative nancies and don’t like it. It makes no sense. I swear Utah fans are as annoyingly pessimistic as BYU fans are annoyingly optimistic.

Would certainly make my travel plans easier.

I so want the committee to punish Bama for playing Western Carolina in mid November

Clemson is irrelevant to us. Would it be nice if they lost? Sure, but they have little bearing on getting the 4th seed.

The worst thing that could happen is Georgia beating LSU in the SECCG. As long as LSU, OSU, and Clemson win out, we will have a decent shot at getting in.

The key things that cannot happen if Utah (and probably Oregon) want to get in are the following:
1. Lose
2. 11-1 Georgia beating 12-0 LSU in the SEC CG
3. Ohio State losing (particularly in the B1G CG).

As long as those three things don’t happen, I think the winner of the Pac-12 CG is in.

Great point about Whit. It is much sexier pitching a shutout or keeping a team in single digit scores.

As long as the whole team keeps playing with the same energy and fire, we’ll win in dominant fashion. If they take the foot off the table and relax, we could be in trouble.

I think Whitt is being completely honest here, but I also can’t help but think the committee, style points, and eye test sits there in the back of every coach’s mind and percolates (sometimes subconsciously) and affects decisions.

Relax there hoss. I’m just curious. I don’t know what caused it and I want to know.
